Yes, Goldendale is along the Columbia River, so, close to Oregon too.

I'm just guessing here... but we are about to take a trip to OR, but this time Peg has to come with! I'm tired of driving that long way alone!

You are closer!! How far is Goldendale from Vancouver? I think about an hour and a half but Im checking for sure ;D looks more like 2 hrs east from I-205 bridge either Oregon or Wash side. I think Oregon is a little quicker because of Freeway.

Finally making contact with the owner. I'm going to have a pregnancy check done for her; if she's pregnant we'll go pick her up soon. I told her that, sadly, if she is not pregnant, we'll have to pass. There are so many old horses in need close by, it makes it hard to justify driving so far to get another one. I feel guilty as he** saying that, but its reality. She sounds like a very sweet mare.... but for her sake, I hope she isn't pregnant.

Sunday has her preg-check on Monday. Assuming she is pregnant (the owner is pretty certain....) we'll be picking her up on Dec 6.

Thanks for the inquiries... Preg check today confirmed her to be about 7 months pregnant, so looking like a March baby. The good news is the vet said she is in excellent health; he was shocked to find out she is 28 (yes... she's 28, not 27) Lordy, NO mare should be expected to have a baby at her age, but.....
So we'll be meeting in Medford on Dec 6 to make the transfer. At least Sharon will be meeting us half way so we can do it all in one day.
Sigh... poor baby. I'm glad we can help her out, but it is so sad to have a mare her age having a baby. Thank goodness... this IS the last one!

Apparently this mare was accidentally in contact with their stallion. Both are old, but apparently "functional" ! The owner feels bad about it, but wants to make sure the mare has a place indooors and they don't have a barn.
At least the mare is healthy, and we'll spoil her that's for sure.

"Sunday" is on her way from Washington to Yreka where we will be meeting the owner to transfer her tomorrow morning.
Everyone says she looks in fantastic shape, so I'm looking forward to meeting her!

Glad to hear she's coming to you! She's very beautiful and you'll have another "kid" running around come spring! Maybe your other foal will be a ready-made friend when she arrives.

Well Sundae made it safe and sound. Along with Mai Tai! They both look healthy and they were happy to get out, stretch thier legs, have some water, a good roll and a big dinner. Not a peep from either of them. They are both cute and friendly. Ancient mare looks Great for her age! Mai Tai is a gentleman. They'll spend the night here and are off to thier new home tomorrow morning. And Beth is bringing me a little surprise...actually a Big one, Big Bob is coming to make a nice pair of Suffolks with my Samson.
I snapped these pics, sorry they're not good.

They have made the final leg of their journey tonight, and are settling in to the place nicely. Thank you SO MUCH to Icehorse for being our layover, it was super for the old mare and Mai Tai to get a rest overnight... she needed it.... WE also would have been really nervous letting them stay in the trailer overnight... The old mare is in pretty good shape, her weight is a bit low, body score is about a 3, or 3.5, but she will pick up with good food... Mai Tai is her BFF, so they are going to settle in together... he is a real cutie too! we'll start working on his feet a little tomorrow and get a ride to see how he is under saddle soon! My Big Bob stayed in Icehorse's beautiful pasture, and although we will miss him dearly, I have such a good feeling about him bonding with her and making a fairy tale couple with her husband riding Samson, and Cynthia riding Bob... :=) Can't wait for riding pics! I'll get some pics here tomorrow, and ppost so you can see! we expect a baby in about 10 weeks, the little lady is about 7 mo along... due in March... oh boy!!! more baby pics too!!! she is bred to an Arab, son of Kemosabi.... so a half arab pintabian...
