I came across this posted on craigs list. This poor thing...anyone know what happened to this horse?were the owners charged? craigslist modesto PostingID: 982985428 Abandoned Horse (Red Hills Tuolumne County) In the local paper last night they had an article about an abandoned mare. She was trailered in and dropped at the trail head in the Red Hills in Tuolumne County This mare was near death. She was a very very skinny sorrel with a star on her head. I dont know how tall she was but she was nothing but skin and bones. She had injuries and sores on her legs. I dont know if they put her down or not, but if anyone out there thinks they may know who owned this mare please contact the Tuolumne County Animal Control. If someone had a mare answering this description and the mare is gone now, Call and give the animal control a lead. As horse lovers we must put a stop to this. there are other alternatives to starving and then abandoning your horse no matter what the age is of the horse. Please help find the person who did this. People need to swallow their pride and ask for help for feed, vet bills, or if need be, euthanasia. There is no shame when you're asking for help to take care of your babies - be they human or animal.
