TB In need - will be euthanized

Just FYI - Hytyme does not have this horse, it was an email that we received asking for help. Please contact the person listed if you can help. We had to turn this one down as we are overfull but told the owners we would pass on their email.

I emailed her, this is the response:

Hi,
My Thoroughbred mare's registered name is Tajranee. She was a race horse until she was about 6 or 7 yrs old. Her eye was badly damaged during a race and she ended up losing her eye so we retired her from racing at that time. We purchased her out of the Washington Thoroughbred Sale in December of 1991 so we have had her for a long time. She is like a member of the family. I don't remember how many races she won, but I think it was 6 wins total. One of the races she won was a stakes race. She has been a wonderful broodmare, always easy to breed and always settled on the first cover. We bred her to Cisco Road each year for about 6 yrs, then we bred her to our own TB stallion. I am sending a picture that was taken of her summer of 2007. She is a beautiful mare and you would never know that she is as old as she is to look at her. She is totally sound and has no health or injury problems. She was sound all through her race career. She has never been sick or injured. The only training she has had was as a racehorse. She was never ridden for pleasure after we retired her from the track. She is gentle and very easy to handle. We have always assisted her during foaling and she always accepted us there with no problem. We did have to do plasma transfusions on some of her foals. For some reason, the foal did not absorb the antibodies in her colostrum. We milked colostrum from her and had it tested for antibodies and it was fine, so it is something in her foals that made it necessary for us to do plasma transfusions on them. Those female foals who grew up to have foals themselves, had the same problem. Even one who did not have a transfusion herself. It is something genetic, but I'm not sure that veterinary medicine really knows the answer yet. The plasma transfusion was such a simple solution and it guaranteed that the foal would have immunity.
I could talk about her all night, but I think that I've given you enough info for you to get and idea what kind of mare she is.
