Today Beth and I were leaving to run errands, and saw Jen in distress at the bottom of her paddock. It was clear she was colicing, so we moved her into the arena, close by, gave her Banamne to see if that would help. She never would get back up, and based on knowing how bad her foot is, the decision was really no decision. Jet was someone's very well trained, lovely horse. We have been honored to have her for the past 2 1/2 years, and feel she has had a wonderful end of life. We'll miss her a great deal. Yesterday she and her "roomies" got to go into the arena for some fun time. Jet was trotting around, kicking up her heels and loving her warm winter day. A nice memory for sure Peg

OMG I am so sorry to hear this sweet ol girl is gone. Yet I am so glad she has had the chance to live a happy and well taken care of life in the last couple years. She really deserved it and thank you so much for giving her that. I bet she was such a beauty in her day and now she is frolicking in greener pastures. You did right by her this whole time, and now was no different. I will not forget her.

mta: this is Beth, not Peg.. this computer won't let me sign her off and me on...
I wasn't there for her final minutes, Peg was... but I stayed with her while we waited to get the vet call thru (Peg had to run one errand)... I watched the banamine take effect, and she felt somewhat better, but was still in distress... she did one trot down the arena, rolled, then trotted back, and rolled and rolled... she found one corner with grass, and laid there a lot of times... but even the most comfy she got she was up and down, rolling on and off. The nice thing was that she felt better enough to stand with me, and get her back scratched, lay her head over my shoulder, and give me wrap neck hugs... she was ready... she and I talked, and she got all the wither scritchies she wanted, then she lay down one final time... when the vet came she hadn't gotten up, and never even tried she passed quietly and without any anxiety.... in a warm sunny afternoon, in the warm sand with her head on a puff of grass.
Fly free Ms Jet Puffed Marshmallows... we miss you.

Oh Beth and Peg,
I'm so sorry. Even after seeing those x-rays I'm sure you didn't know her time would come so soon. Thank you for being so wonderful to her-what a very special last day you gave her.

I'm so sorry you lost her. In a strange way the colic was a blessing in disguise, wasn't it. Colic that isn't resolving is pretty unambiguous. I know those xrays were a shock in light of how she moved out - that could have been a much tougher call to make. I'm glad it was a warm sunny day today, and between Beth and Peg she had company in her final hours. Bless you for taking her and giving her a chance and doing right by her.

I have always wished we could get a good read on her tattoo, but no luck. She was a very special, sweet horse and a total joy to watch when she moved.

I am so sorry you guys.......she was one of the sweetest horses I've ever met and definitely lucky to have found her final, and probably best home, with you guys............ I got one of those neck wrap hugs from her when I saw her shortly after she arrived.......she's unforgettable.

So sorry to hear this Peg and Beth. It is good to know she is in greener, warmer pastures with no pain and no worries. Only a tad bit better than your wonderful place. I contacted Ryan R to let her know of Jet's passing.
