Ok, this is SOOOOOO off topic, but does anyone have a sleep number bed by select comfort??? i am looking for some thoughts, opions, likes, dislikes, what model do you have and anything else you might want to add. About 8 months ago we purchased a Spring Air Infinity Adagio latex matress and it is just too soft for John, so we are looking for a different solution(wish we would have figured that out before spending over $3200 ) on a side note, anyone want a great bed at a cheaper price? It looks and sleeps like brand new!! Sara

Jim and Sherry do. You could email Jim: hytymejim@gmail.com I know cause I saw the box in their living room. Jim said it is the most comfortable mattress he ever bought.

Crap, right now I'll take a Costco special. Our mattress is 15 years old and is need of replacement.
Of course with 2 dogs and a cat sleeping on the bed, I'm not so sure that a new mattress will make a difference.....especially when my friends dog stays. Of course she's on the bed too.......lol

LOL - Well, at least our dogs don't sleep with us, although my cat sleeps ON my head. He doesn't take up much space, just the area around my pillow and head lol. Mickey - could make you a good deal on a latex foam matress I happen to know where one is available lol! Sara

Lol.....would have to wait for my (fingers crossed) tax return. I just paid $700 for baseball and $600 for truck registrations!
The cat likes to sleep on my hip or my chest. And if I roll over she's like a little mini-logger and stays on no matter how much I move. Last night she must have hit the wrong spot on my hip, I vaguely recall picking her up and moving her and she hopped back on over and over.....this morning I was hurting.
My son sleeps alone in a double bed.....why won't anyone go sleep with him?

I have a sleep number bed, can't remember the model but when I bought it about 5 years ago it was the top of the line one with the extra cushioning on top of the air part. I love love love it. The only thing I think I would do differently in hindsight is to not get the pillow top (or whatever they call it) as it is permanently indented where we sleep, and unlike a traditional mattress you can't flip it or rotate it, so you are stuck with your own indent!
Otherwise, I am very happy with that bed! Sometimes I adjust the firmness depending on different aches and pains, but usually I have it set on 100!

Dont have one, but do a have $4000 pillow top bed that my husband "surprised" me with, and I hate it. I've never had back problems until now. So if you can, avoid anything with that memory foam like Hope said...I wish I had my cheap $300 sears bed back

I can completely understand the issue you are having icehorse. our bed cost a good arm and a leg and we are having the issues so many others are having with "foam" beds. The exact reason we chose this bed(being a new hybrid latex) vs. other memory foam/latex beds was that it was supposed to NOT do the indention thing. And, although we don't have indentions - what we DO experience though is that after you snuggle in and the bed warms - you experience the "craddle" effect lol. Which can be deliteful or horrible depending how you sleep(and which animal decides to sleep ON you lol) Once you are in, you are IN. If you try to scoot over, you end up at a 45 degree angle with the area that is not warmed from your body. GREAT if you want your guy to stay on his own side1 lol Grateful - I like having a pillow top and have a question - would you do the pillow top with the idea that every couple of years you would need to replace the cover to avoid the indent?? OR would you get an aftermarket foam topper? I have an AMAZING mattress pad that I bought that has an orthopedic gel inside it along with a layer of down over it. It is SOOOO snuggly and because it has a super smooth and silky soft egyptian cotton cover, it makes the bed feel delightful. The same company makes a similar pad that is 3 inches thick. Would you do something like that and get the bed without the pillow top?? I have been reading about all the different models and it looks like theo nly one without the pillow is the 3000 series? Or do you knwo if you can order any model without the pillow? Looks like the higher models have better pumps and wireless controllers? ?? LOL - I know, I know. like you guys are the experts here. After all the BS with beds we have had in the last 5 years (4 beds in that time!) I want to get it right! Sara

Cutie, I have the model with the pillow top and the remote control adjuster. I haven't priced replacement toppers, but I think I would probably go with the no pillow top one and just buy a separate mattress cover or pillow top that I would plan on changing out as needed. The one on the sleep number bed seemed to indent pretty quickly, so I would go with a higher quality one separate from the mattress. Does that make sense? I'm with you, I like the pillow top and I'm the one who insisted on getting that model! Which makes it pretty ironic that now I'm the one most bothered by sleeping in my own trench! Especially when one of the 3 kitties decides that mommy needs to get out of the warm spot so he or she can have it! Try climbing out of the trench when you are half asleep and the rest of the bed is cold! D@mn kitties!
Good luck with the search ... as I recall emotions ran pretty high around our house while we were in the "negotiating with each other" stage!
