Hey Pacific Northwest people, Julie Goodnight will be up in your area in June to film an episode of her training series, Horse Master. She is looking for all types of horses with all types of training issues be it under saddle or on the ground. More info and and application can be found here: www.horsemaster.tv/apply.htmlI think it would be so cool if someone we know was selected! I don't know if they have booked the arena location yet, so the exact spot is still unknown. Here is a blurb about it: For each filming location, we need 6 horse and rider teams and 1 alternate. Each pair works with Julie for two days. We like to have a mix of disciplines/ages to show that what Julie teaches applies to everyone. We try to have an English and Western rider, a younger rider (highschool-ish) and someone who's working on groundwork. The mix really depends upon the stories we hear about! We like to look for one issue to work on and really expand on that--cinchiness, won't tie, won't load in the trailer, won't walk through water, won't stand still for mounting, pushes into the rider, the rider wants to learn something specific (collection, jump position, shortening strides, picking up correct leads, making sure horse doesn't stop at the gate, working a gate, etc.)Let us know if you apply!

I watched several sessions with Julie at the Horse Expo a year ago and was very impressed with her. I've successfully used some of her techniques on Kaleigh. (I also chose her rope halter/leadline out of all the ones that were being demo'd and sold there. Just last week, in desperation, I threw them in the washing machine and they washed up like new! No exaggeration - yesterday my farrier commented to Kaleigh "Oh, look, you have a nice new halter" (NOT! LOL!)

That would be so fun to go do. I would be petrified however to have the horse world see what a really crappy rider I am.......

Ah, but don't forget it's a mix of riders and people with just groundwork issues. No doubt you could still participate and the world will never have to see what a "crappy rider" you are!
