A neighbor phoned today to say he needed to sell his 4yr old sweet and gentle quarter pony filly. She's had 90 days training. He only wants what he paid for her $250 and that includes her saddle.
I will go tomorrow to evaluate her and try and get pics.
This is in Hornbrook, CA 96044
My hauler just went down to bay area yesterday from here, but he'll be back in a month or so.

Ok, yet another depressing situation. Underweight, Horrible feet, spooky little thing. Cute though. All sorrel, probably 14 hands. Looks like a small quarter horse. I'll get some pics up I took with my camera phone. I think I might need to get this one. This family has children that go to my daughter's school and they need to eat. Does anyone feel like helping me out with farrier or hay? My shoer charges $35 for a trim and hay is $10 a bale. I will cover her purchase price and hauling to my house.
my paypal is cemcclendon@yahoo.com if anyone is feeling generous. There are just too many around here to help, so I'll help this one since I just sold our little pony.

Her feet do look like they are flaring, but a good balanced trim will do wonders....She looks full of worms to me, but other than that not in that bad of shape. (Considering) I think she is adorable, and full of potential. How tall is she? No Beth, I'm not thinking of replacing Mikey!!! She is darling, I'd nab her if I was closer!

She is a cutie! Poor little lonely girl needs some TLC and horsey friends!
Is the "spine" issue where she is kind of humped up in front of her pelvis? Or am I seeing the wrong thing? If that's it, I wouldn't be too worried. Manny was like that at the same age. He also has that same short-coupled, old-style QH butt, and the short, thick neck, and is really quick and agile. My trainer/friend (Indigo) didn't want me to ride Manny until that tight area in his back relaxed and his neck was right-side up. She wanted me to work on mental/physical rehab first. We approached it as a kind of a mental-physical-maturation issue. The combination of 24-7 group turn-out, groundwork, socializing, hand walks, etc. all seemed to work to get him where you look at him and see he is mentally and physically ready.

How weird is this...I just got off the phone with the lady that bred her! She owns the dam and sire! I got to learn more about her. Her name is Princess, her dam is a morgan/paint and her sire is a quarter pony that is related to Poco Bueno-well that's the story anyways...and she said she is more like 6, just looks very young. Has been trailered all over, but not really truly started. Just a few rides being led around at a walk. So we'll see, I'm trying to get her here tomorrow. The breeder does Not want her back. If there is not too much snow we are hauling her here tomorrow morning.
Beckybee, yes you are seeing a weird hump on her back..I think it might just be that she is so thin and her spine is sticking up there. who knows. and yes, that is exactly our plan. I never ride unless we are both ready!! Most of mine are pasture potatoes.
Weird that she just called me out of the blue asking to see if I'd help sell some of her horses...

Well I just went over and played with my new girl. She is Wild! However, after a few minutes I did get a halter on her and lead her around. At first she was cantering and bucking and rearing and acting Very scared. She is extremely spooky...but does seem to want to trust me. She is going to be a very fun project. I started her on some of my hay tonight and we'll get her in the morning. If anyone is still interested in her please let me know. Her feet are very very long. I asked if she had a halter, but they didn't own one. Nice people, but they just don't know anything about horses. He couldn't Believe I got the halter on her. She also seems to have a weird lump on her side, almost like a hernia, or it's just really bad worms and we'll take care of that tomorrow. I think she'll pick up weight fairly quick, she's really not that bad, but doesn't have any shelter or friends.

My little red valentine horse is beginning to trust me:) I caught her right away today. It took her a couple days to forgive me for shoving her into that stock trailer by herself. But I caught her, got her wormed, brushed, probios, and she's starting to let me stand on her opposite side and touch her. A good step.
