I'm having a young gal (20 years old) come out and ride Manny and give me lessons on Raz. She just moved here for college and is offering her services to keep riding and make a little extra cash.
Manny did great with her - they did walk, trot, whoa and back. Pretty good for his first real ride in 2 years outside of pony rides.
She was pretty bummed he wasn't more exciting. She was looking for a few bucks. Needless to say I was VERY pleased it was uneventful!
I'm worried about what happens if she did get hurt. I am paying her - does that make a difference? I'm going to confirm she has health insurance. I had equine liability insurance before, but was told that it doesn't cover rider injury. Should I have her sign a liability release? Anything else?
Any advice would be appreciated!

I definately would I have people sign when they ride my horses just in case also there are signs that you can post around your propert regarding equines and the risk.

In this situation I have someone sign a complete liability release EVERY time they are on my property. It is different if theya re working with their own horse, but when they are working with one of yours - it is really important that you cover yourself. also - call your homeowners insurance and see if they have any recommendations for you.
