Sorry we moved to a non DSL area and works been crazy.
Everyone is fine though Dandy managed to find a peice of glass a month ago while romping around and got a long cut on the back of his pastern. It bled quite a bit and being a sunday.. 2 vets were off, 1 had the flu, 1 had 3 other calls before me, and one was far away, alone with 3 kids... plus my truck got smashed and has not been replaced yet so I couldn't take him to a clinic :sigh:
I followed their advice for treating and wrapping it and it seems to have healed up fine. Because it was so wet and muddy I wrapped it for two weeks even though it looked pretty good after a week.
DeeDee is still a spitfire! Totally cute with lots of confidence and personality! Dandy leads the pack, He's quick and makes some pretty tight turns without even seeming to lean. DeeDee can really turn it on too, flips that tail and stops on a dime, she doesn't feel the need to stay in the pack, and will run after and jump on Dandys ball if you roll it around. Tryst is a bit of a lug next to the other two. Shes still just so dang big and stocky, she's happy to follow Dandy when they play and sometimes really puts it on. She has a ton of power in her, but you can tell she doesn't quite have the control of her moose sized body to be able to manuever as tightly as the other two.
We finally got more of my panels moved and Swissy came up and helped me set up a bigger pen for them in a bettter area of the property. (no debris lurking under the dirt to cut baby legs) It looks like someone at some point may have demolisgd a shed or something and burried the remaining debris under where I set up the pens the day we moved in. I've been picking upeverything I see that gets worked out of the ground, and a friend says she is going to plan a party where everyone brings a rake!
For now I am just setting up and moving the pens in a different area, but I hope we can clear out whats under there and make it safe enough to use.
The babies got the first new pen and they LOVED having the extra room and a poor almost demolished now creosote bush. (none of my horses have tried to eat one, and they make GREAT tummy scratchers.) It didn't take them long to discover it and ended up fighting over it. Dandy got it first but once Tryst got over it she fussed stamped and kicked to keep it for herself. She's a bit more of a thinker then the other two and looks things over closely (she's so much like her mom)
We love them all but now that I got them in the new pen the girls can't sneak drinks anymore, so DeeDee may be leaving this month.
Here's some pics from after our snow.. a month ago?
