Hello folks,
I have a possibly pregnant roan mare that needs to find a new home to possibly foal and live out her days in peace. She's in the middle of the food chain- gets along with everyone and is super sweet. She's great around kids and is a joy to work with. The ONLY reason I am giving her up is that my barn collapsed and she has no place to foal if she is pregnant and I don't have enough time to get it fixed in case she is. Shes middle aged, from 13-16 and in over all good health. She suffered a puncture on her forehead a while ago but its healing nicely. Looks gross from the outside but it's healing from the inside out. She's not to happy about having it messed with but we clean it out using a vet approved home solution (very cheap and easy to make) and squirt it in there to flush it out. Then we apply Nolvasan antibiotic ointment to the area. You can also use cutheal which is also pretty cheap. It also is another solution that promotes healing from the inside out. It's been healing fab, but she's had this since we got her (which was just a couple months ago) and it was really bad. It's only about the size of a nickle now, compared to what it was. Our farrier said shes' got nice hoof and thick wall, and would be great barefoot. Barely any hoof care required besides the normal trim and clean out. She's a stocky horse, would be perfect for a heavier rider or long pack trips. I am not sure how well she's broke, but her former owners had relayed to us that she is very well broke. But from pregnancies and family handicaps we have not been able to assess how well she is broke. On top of her being possibly pregnant, I do not want to risk it just yet. Her previous owners said she was vet approved pregnant, but we have not confirmed this. Apparently she was bred to an appy stud? But then again, that's just what we were told. She's got a real nice demeanor, not a single aggressive bone in her. Shes very happy go lucky and always looking for that next treat. She's easy to catch and a joy to work with. Not herd bound, and not out to eat anyone.
She stands at 15 hands, about 1200lbs. Shes a chestnut with the white flecking in her coat. She has a cute blaze down her face and the biggest innocent eyes you have ever seen. I am not firm on her price, if I find a good home for her... Possibly she's free. Just assure me she won't be dog food and that you will take excellent care of her. Pictures are appreciated!
