I think Barb said it was an accident, caused when a stallion got loose. You said the stud was a CBER horse, what was his lot name?

neither of these girls were a planned event. dreamer (cber feathers) was in the pasture w/ the girls and guesss got the deed done ( he only had one nut at the time).. didnt know they had gotten preg till was way to late to do anything about it.. because accident does happens dosent mean i promote breeding,,..but i had the responible to seeing that they are healty and happy...and will continue to do so..cheyenne and dakota are fine and growing like little weeds! i will keep them updated as to them growing up..but will not take kindly of being bash........

OK, the babies are darling, but... If you knew he was a stud and he "got in" with your mares they should have been seperated immediately! but if you want to be a backyard breeder and bring more horses into a world that is already bursting with unwanted's, thats your choice. No bashing here, I just don't understand the need to breed mares like this... I would have figured that being so involved in rescue you would understand my remark.

If you read the whole thread lmp you would see that she boards her horses at a trainers barn. So from what I can see it wasnt really her fault and it sounds like the trainer is kind of a jerk. It still sounds like bashing to me. Sometimes things happen and she is taking care of her babies.

The lesson to be learned here is this= It does not matter if it has one or two testicles, it can produce a foal. Only NO testicles are safe. LOL Also, some young colts are more aggressive at mating than others. I would never leave a stud colt with any mare if he is over 10 months old. If the mare is willing and the colt is able, you get a baby.
As long as Feather is now nutless, he will not be fathering any more oops babies.

There is a big gelding party for 6 planned for last week and Feather is most definately part of it. It has been postponed twice by the vet because of the weather. We have been having high winds which causes dust storms. it's tough here because they wont do it once it gets too hot/fly season hits, and they won't do it if we are having high winds (both put a higher risk of infection.) They are trying again on tuesday. How the babies came about.. You all know Barb has been having trouble at her boarding facility... I was there the day the guy came unglued, because.. She packed up some of HER tack that was unopened not being used (leg wraps, hay bags, headstall, flat halters.) He saw her putting it in the car and was mad she hadn't TOLD him she was taqking SOME of her things. We were not leaving yet, and he was working a horse in the round pen when we got there. Oh and I had MY foal blanket rolled up and under my arm. Did I mention it was MY blanket.. the one I loaned Barb when the first filly arrived during a cold, windy, wet week... and he refused to put the filly under cover telling Barb "She's a mustang she's fine!" Well yeah she's a mustang I said, but she was born WAY earlier then any self respecting mustang would have been foaling and she needs some shelter. He is also the one who convinced Barb that Dreamer/Feather could NOT get a mare pregnant. He is still claiming it, and told Barb the babies are by HIS stallion... that he brought the mares back to his place and they got bred to his horse... and so she owes him a STUD FEE? OMG can you imagine what I think of the guy REALLY?? LOL OK well Barb broke her shoulder last year, and has had multiple surgeries and it still isn't right. She was on disability for awhile and the guy moved her horses and a bunch of her panels across the street to another guys place. The second guy is a nice one and I ended up keeping Dyna and Tiffy at his place for awhile (Chester and Hayden too) However when Ty moved her horses there he put all of them including Feather in with my mares!!! I had a fit because I did not want my mares in with a 3 y/o stud no matter how many nuts he had. Barb told me that Ty swore he couldn't do the deed but I insisted on having him seperated from mine. ( I was having enough babies already!) When he`started in saying the babies were by his stallion, and Barb owed a stud fee I told her to tell him to F Off, that if HE bred her mares to his stud, he owes HER vet fees for the babies. (he would have had to take them across the street from one ranch to another, for that to have happened. It bothers me that he tells barb she is ungrateful for wha he has done for her... because he USES her stuff all the time! He doesn't even have his own brushes and uses hers daily on the horses he has in training as well as his own horses. He has her panels all in use for his cows and HIS mare that foaled is in a 40X40 stall made up of her green panels, and her girls are foaling and living with their babies in 12X24 pipe stalls with no shelters! She had 3 covers there and asked him repeatedly to put them up for her horses and he did not, then recently told her she didn't even have 3 covers there?? She certianly did, they have been there for 2 years waiting to be used.. well turns out he let a friend of his GF take two of them, and tols her "He said they were his"... He KNEW they weren't and that she had reciepts for them. He told her she had to mive her horses by May 1st, but guess what? It's May 3rd and all her panels are all still mixed in being used for his horses, not pulled out and set aside ready for her to move like he said they would be. He was giving her a little bit of a deal on board but now he is charging her full rate and still acting like her stuff is his. She has a travel trailer she took over so she could sit out of the wind, and rest while she is there and he moved a caretaker into it. So now she has to evict him out of it before she can move that too! (the plate for it is now missing, and the door is damaged, plus some of her green panels have been demolished by his horses and cows, but he just trows them away, so they aren't junking up his place, but does not replace them. ) :SIGH: Sorry but he just really irks me. He was bugging me about selling him Delite (Mouse) and I had to tell him NO a few times before he stopped bugging me. (He did get a Grulla mare but she isn't half the horse Delite is... LOL sorry but she is one freaking smoking fine mare, and it isn't because she's a Grulla either, she'd be a FABULOUS girl no matter what color she was. (Beth took her to ground school clinics last weekend and this one, and that horse was alowwed to PLAY with people for probably the first time in her life. I'll make a whole seperate post for that I promise.) Anyway so yes it's bad that Feather is possibly a dad but that is being handled, his new Mom Mary is eagerto have it done. Also please try to keep in mind that at the time it happened Barb was not allowed to even halter her horses, since she had an unstable fracture in her shoulder, She really was at the mercy of whatever the BO decided to do with her horses. Sunshine is a Comstock mustang who was rescued from Slick Gardners Ranch. (Those of you who are not familiar with this, should look into the Shoshone Indian herds that went there as well, except for the ones Lifesavers had to rescue because they were abandoned at Fishcreek and never taken to his ranch. (I am hearing rumors that they were given to S.G. by the same guy who is handling the 3X ranch horses. Hopefully he has learned not to trust people like he did S.G. and these horses go to REAL rescues and homes. (He must have thought, others were giving him Comstock mustangs and such so he must be ok... There were far too many horses missing from his ranch to have died off, so it is rumored/assumed that he shipped them to slaughter. that does not seem to be the case at 3X thankfully.

P.S. Barb ....
DONT TELL ME HE IS LEAVING THAT HALTER ON YOUR BABY!! I'll be driving over there and give him a peice of my mind if he is! He could get your baby killed doing that! babies are WAY too curious, sticking their heads into things to be wearing a halter unless you are holding a lead to keep them out of trouble!
I REALLY mean this, it would be far too easy for that babies neck to snap if she gets that halter hooked on something. Babies can be such drama queens, and it's just asking for trouble.
Let me know if he gives you any crapabout taking it off. I'll be EVER SO HAPPY to make sure he understands he can not leave it on!

I hope Barb is saving all evidence that this stuff is going on and he is basically stealling her perosonal property. Sounds like a lawsuit in the making. If she can ever find a place to move to you guys better be taking a couple of burly men with you for back up. The barn owner sounds like an ass, but probably only has the nuts to treat women like the it sounds like he is treating Barb. (Which means he is essentially a coward.) I bet he would back off with a man there.

Both babies are gorgeous, please post more pictures!!! I know Barb will provide for these babies, and both will be spoiled rotten! When I got Annie, I knew she was out with a stud. She was unhandled and injured. It took me several months to gain her confidence, and to get her to where I could handle her. I didn't have the vet out, and hind sight says I should have....I should have administered a shot to make her abort, but didn't.....so now we have Hot Shot's smokin' firecracker (daughter named him). He will never leave our place, and has brought a ray of sunshine to our ranch. Annie is a wonderful mother, and my MIL is enjoying a baby on the place and handles him daily. Sh*t happens, unfortunately. This is a NO drama board, so please save it. Barb is a wonderful person and does not deserve to be bashed in any way shape or form.
