I've been sick with the cold for a week now, brought it back from my business trip. Actually stayed home yesterday, I think that's the first time I've stayed home sick in 4 years. This thing is really kicking my butt, and I don't like it.

Sorry to hear you are sick! I teach 3rd grade, and...knock on wood...I haven't been sick yet and I've had kiddos coughing ALL over me. But, we have plenty of hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, AND we wipe down desks daily. I think my cortisone shots from last fall are helping me, too, as I haven't had any allergies this spring! Get better soon! I usually get bronchitis 2x a year...had pneumonia twice one school year!

If you havw a sore throat, get a strep culture, I thought I just had bronchitis or something and it turned out to be strep and it is a highly contagious strain, people that I saw for like 5 mins and had barely any contact with have gotten it as well.

Well - yesterday afternoon my fever went to 103.6 so I decided I better go in. I went in and got a strep culture and they did a flu swab to test for the swine flu. Has anyone done this - OMG - I knew it went up your nose, but had NO idea how painful it is!! HORRIBLE! I coughed so hard that I ruptured some small vessels in my eyes!!!
SO - based on my symptoms and the fact that John got sick traveling for business - we are now on house quarantine until my swab comes back. LOVELY!
arghhh.. I was cranky before - but now I am REALLY Cranky!!!!!!

went back to the doctor this morning because not only do I now have a throat more soar than I have ever experienced, it is swollen from the OUTSIDE all the way down to my chest. i can not hardly turn my head Got another strep culture to be sent in and some blood drawn and my doctor called in him "home made" mix to my pharmacy - a mix of 3 different kindso f numbing meds alot with thinned mylanta lol. Said nothing is made like it, but nothing works better - Hey - i am game! Said I should use 1/2 tablespoon every 4 hours and not to do it more often or I will be so number I won't be able to tell if I am breathig lol. NICE! Sounds PERFECT! Seriously -if you have the ickies - go get checked. Whatever this is going around is bad bad stuff. OHHHH and it was a negative on the piggy flu, but because I have a fever I am still contagious so still stuck at home Not that I felt like running around anyways. hope everyone is having a good mothers day. Our whole family decided o postpone a week till everyone is better. Take care, Sara

When you or your doctor suspect strep throat make sure to ask your doctor to test for Streptococcus C. It can be carried/transmitted by horses, birds, rabbits and guinea pigs. It can be a VERY serious form of Strep. My 10 yr old daughter picked it up from a couple of hours at a local rabbit/guinea pig show. It is very contagious and put her in hospital for four days. Symptoms usually start two days after exposure. She had sores in her throat. But sores can apparently occur on other places such as the skin or urinary tract. I have been around horses, birds, and rabbits most of my life, but this was the first time I heard about Strep C. Most doctors only test for Streptococcus A.

No - definately NOT better. Whatever this crap is went into my ears and caused me to get a massive innner ear infection - which ruptured BOTH of my ear drums SO - now on top of everything else, I can't hear. ii am telling ya - this stuff is rediculous... I am now on 2 oral antibiotics and antibiotic/steriod ear drops. WHICH of course, all come with their own set of side effects lol. I swear - it feels like I have been sick forever. Sara
