yakima.craigslist.org/grd/1236385722.htmlyakima nation wild mustangs for sale all ages, sizes, & colors avalible. for more information call 509-829-6558 or 509-985-0419 if your lookin to make a good mountain horse these are the ones you want they have lots of heart, endurance, solid feet and will go all day This is frustrating for me because I live so close yet can't rescue as I'm already maxed out. BUT, at least they're not going directly to Chuck's as they have in the past. Gives them a bit of a chance. Some of us have experienced working with the Yakima Mustangs. They truly are nice, hardy horses. Totally wild, though, so a person certainly has to be experienced to take one on.

The phone numbers belong to: Marvin O. Heemsah 291 Orchardvale Rd Zillah, WA 98953 As I write this, Tribal repersenatives are in Canada, look at slaughter houses.... The Indain Nations are in the prosses of making plans for a slaughter house to run horse who are not homed.... As many of their members are now using the well breed horses..The mix breed mustang has fallen to the side...Auction, feedlots and slaughter is their ending for being a mustang.... If we can save one horse, that would be one less to slaugther.... chatty

Thanks for the info, Chatty! Interesting they are going directly to Canada and bypassing Chuck. He's always had a corral specifically for the Mustangs. As thin as they always are, he probably doesn't want to mess with them when he can get nice fat horses for under $200... or free. If ANYONE is interested, I am happy to take a look at them and will board until travel arrangements are made. I can also transport within a reasonable distance. As mentioned, I personally don't want to get in over my head with too many rescues or I would take a bunch of them! The Yakama stangs I've worked with have been very smart and come around quickly. I think I've posted pics before, but here is a yearling that missed going to slaughter by a whisker. This is three days after we brought her home. She is now well loved, living with a family in my area.

When we were over in Yakima this weekend getting hay the farmer said that people were just turning out their domesticated horses loose with the wild ones on the reservation and that there had been 20 of the skinnier ones shot just because they were so malnourished. Poor babies.

The tribal nation slaugther house will be built on a number of reservations..... Ore, WA, Idaho and Montana that tribal SH will be on (one or all)..
Until then Seal's, Standwood and KB will have their choose of them....Auctions should start to get them soon....
All info came from national native web site....They broke it down, naming tribes, feedlots, auctions and where they would ship.... Wild horse are never offered to rescue groups or persons...Seal's, Standwood and KB's ship straight to Canada...
We can't stop these new slaughter house from coming in, but can save some horses..

Chatty, if slaughter houses are built on reservation lands, how will the tribes ensure humane treatment of the horses prior to their death. Rules governing humane treatment set forth by our laws will not apply to tribal lands, correct?

Chatty, if slaughter houses are built on reservation lands, how will the tribes ensure humane treatment of the horses prior to their death. Rules governing humane treatment set forth by our laws will not apply to tribal lands, correct? They have to govern themself.... They have stated that duoble decker trailer aren't needed and horses will not go on long trip without food and water..... Also they said do to the fall of prices (.06 per lbs) in horses, it is less costly to run all stages themself... My guess Ore and Montana will be the states where the new slaughter houses will be built.... And cost to purchuse a horse from the tribe well be less than feedlots or KB's.....+ they only do round up once or twicea year.. Yes, there will be very young foals who got lost in the chase who will need home...Other foal and mare w/foals + mares in foal.... We do have time to work on a game plan when the time comes...Get them from a catch pen and not a feedlot....Less chance to get sickies... Try to step in befre they start to cull...Skinny, injured and the very young they think won't make will be culled out first... Just a idea for the future.........chatty
