I just spoke with the owner, Alicia, for about 20 minutes. Long story short: She's pregnant with triplets, unable to work. They took in a tenant about a year and a half ago who's slowly paying less and less while PG&E, etc has gone up & then charging Alicia for feeding fees to feed her horse. The tenant (illegal to be living there) has also taken in boarders so is basically living for free & threatening both Alicia and the owner of the property with calling the sherrif to report an illegal tenant if they kick her out. And flat out refusing to leave.
She is going to be short on funds for power and for her car payment because of all of this, and has realized that this is not the place for her horse, she can't take care of him any longer. The tenant is now refusing to fork over any money since she found out that she's trying to rehome the horse.
She posted on CL that he's FREE to the first person that shows up w/ a drivers license and is willing to sign a contract. She was not aware of slaughter or the charro rodeo a-holes, but is desperate.
I have left a message for SonRise Equestrian in Danville and JD Acres to see if they have room. Hoofprints on the Heart does not.
She IS willing to euthanize as a last resort but doesn't have the money to pay for that. I'm willing to help pay the vet directly for assisntance with that if worse comes to worse.
She said she hung up on a few callers because they said they were "calling about the ad" and she asked which one. They said "the horse. He's free, right?" I told her that was probably a good thing...she felt if they're just calling because he's free something wasn't right.
This is her kids horse...pictures are included in the CL ad. She's in San Jose and needs help with him ASAP. Someone may be coming tonight to see him but he's never had horses and said he's boarding w/ a neighbor which concerns her. I told her she should be very, very cautious.
This is her first horse and it's killing her to do this.....Anyone able to help?
Thanks.....
