It's me Marc, and since I recently had to put down the one horse I could actually ride, I am looking for a new trail horse. I really don't care about breed, color, gender or age, though I would prefer an older, quieter horse. I am 6'3" and 300 lb and have very little experience, so what I am concerned with is a horse stout enough to deal with my size, who is calm, and good for a beginner. I would mostly be noodling around up here on the trails in this area, mostly walking. I don't need a fast or athletic horse, in fact I really don't want a horse like that, I'm not up to it. With my dog rescue work, I wouldn't be riding all that often. Some times I might get in 2 or 3 rides a week, other times I might only get in 1 or 2 a month. A well trained, pet of a horse, who is on the lazy side would probably be just right for me. And I suppose, given my size, the bigger, the better, though my last horse was only about 15.2 and maybe 1100-1200 lbs and she handled my size just fine, so it would depend on the horse, of course. You can read about me and my horses here gracieland.org/ourhorses.html
I am looking for a no fee horse (I know, I know, who isn't right?). I am not cheap, it's just that while I can afford to care for a horse, my dog rescue work sees to it that I don't have any free cash laying around to buy a horse. But I do take good care of my animals and would give the right horse a wonderful home. My best friend, who is not only an adopter of mine (she's adopted 4 deaf Danes from us) and my applications coordinator, but also a lifetime horse person and my mentor as I explore the world of horses, is the one who sees to it that my horses are well cared for, so my lack of experience is not a factor in regards to horses being well cared for here.
Best way to reach me is via email marc @ gracieland.org or by phone 541 782 2242
