destroyed by the mom's owner.
Moms is registered.....dad's also a purebred Chocolate who's family didn't register him because, well, I don't know. (Yes, they should have neutered him if they weren't showing/hunting & then breeding him. That's another rant).
Pups were born Tuesday night. Friend called to let me know, said that the owners were considering giving them free to good homes instead of killing them.
Instead, they chose the easy thing - for them. Not even sure those puppies got a belly full of milk before it was done. HOPING they at least took them to a vet and didn't do the old "rancher" thing....those options are horrifying.
And hoping against hope that the vet said yes, I'll euth....and we'll dispose of them too. And then found fosters for them......but doubtful.
Sell the pups without papers. They'll still make great pets, great hunters, great FAMILY members. If you want, sell them for $120 - the cost of the spay or neuter at the SPCA and then refund the money when they provide proof it's been done. Whatever.
When we bred our Chocolate to another Chocolate in high school, the owner of the sire, AFTER they bred, asked my parents to promise to destroy any yellows from the litter, because they're undesireable per the AKC. Just hold their heads under ice water, or put them in the freezer if that's too much and they'll just go to sleep. Her words.
My parents told her to take a hike. If any yellows were born, they'd sell 'em without papers as a pet to a good home. We got one yellow, and he was the cutest little thing. Lived to 18 and always got the front seat in his families Mercedes.
See if Canine Companions or Guide Dogs would take a donated litter. Contact a rescue group and see if anyone wanted to bottle raise puppies. Be responsible. Or at least have them aborted as soon as she was bred.....
Sorry....just really, REALLY ticked off right now! Couldn't really enjoy the Giants game tonight because of it.
RIP Angel Puppies....poor mama.
