I'll be posting this in the rehoming area as well...The owners are friends that want a home where this horse will get attention and be loved, and maybe ridden, even used as a gymkhana horse by a kid or light teen/adult.
30 year old registered QH mare named Banjo that refuses to quit.
She's been sound and healthy, and other than cutting her leg a few years back has needed nothing more than routine care (adjusted as she's aged, of course).
She was originally trained as a gymkhana horse, but has been used for goat tying the past few years with their teenage son. He's now in high school and moving on to roping, and although she's willing, they thought it would be nice to let her retire, so Lance got a new, young horse.
Except that Banjo doesn't want to quit, and is having a fit if they leave without her for rodeos. Last Saturday they returned home from a rodeo, and as they unloaded the first horse from the trailer, Banjo got out of her pen and raced into the trailer and then waited calmly to be tied and head out.
I suggested maybe bringing her along to the rodeos, but she doesn't like to be left tied at events. She wants to work, wants to be in the arena, and gets excited about competing.
She'll need an experienced rider....Lance had been riding her since he was 9 & had no problem holding her back until it was their time to go, but his little brother is a more timid rider, so he's using their slower gelding Jake.
They are in the SF Bay Area, between San Jose & Livermore. They have no problem leasing her lending her out until she really is ready to retire or be euthanized, and then take her back. They just want to be sure she's taken care of and never put in danger.
So if you know of anyone....please contact me at petertrippins@aol.com!
Thanks
Stacie
