Located about 2 hours north of Sacramento near Chico, CA, The Mustang Project was originaly formed to provide a place for youth to learn more about horses. Most recently, The Mustang Project rescued over 50 mustangs from the Sheldon Natoinal Wildlife Refuge. The horses are all being removed, and we have the last remaining herd members. We took the horses that were least likely to get adopted: older and injured horses, and would like to provide sanctuary for these horses to live out the remainder of their lives in peace and freedom. Sadly, the remaining horses from the herd were sent to auction by at least three of the other contractors that took horses. The Mustang Project needs donors to help provide care for these horses.
