Barb in Virgina has offered to take 1-3 more horses if we can raise the bail and QT. She is getting ready for Frankie and George and Roper and Lennox....It sounds like a wonderful place for them all.
Can we start the ball rolling for these horses now? I don't know what is happening with the truck, but the sooner we get some money raised, the better.I am making an offer here to anyone who can contribute at least $400 toward either Aries, Victoria, or Confetti or Lucky, I have a Shirley Temple doll from 1961, 12" vinyl with two outfits in very good condition...I was going to try to sell her on ebay to replenish my paypal, but don't have a digital photo yet and haven't really learned how to do ebay yet.....too busy posting ads LOL.
I know that other Shirley Temple dolls from this year are at least $300. I will send her to you - a great Xmas present to any collector.Aleta It sounds like we have a little bit of time now to put something together for this girl. I can donate a little toward her bail. Is ther ANYONE else who can help save this cute little girl. I just can't bear to see her ship

yu know this work you do is SOOOO important. Its a link in the chain that we cannot do without. If you ever have time, I would love to have a report of all the sources you have found and what it costs to post there, and if you need to be a member etc. We could really use that info for our local rescue group. YOU ROCK !!

Yes Kirsten and I have been thinking we could have a permanent spot here to list ad sites, what results we get, if they cost, etc.
It would be a great tool for any rescue.
Whenever there is a lull? we can start that.....

"Whenever there is a lull.." My thoughts exactly!! when we do get that lull..maybe over xmas sometime...i was thinking we can start that list!!! Christmas is not typically when there is a lull in horses arriving and needing help. The middle of summer actually seems to be the slowest time based on past trends.

alp324 and Kirsten2507....PLEASE DO make a list of the area Classified Ads info...it would be a great help to us...we also listed the request for a "template" ad that people can use for reference when placing their ads. A lot of people are happy to place ads, just don't know what to say... We have made a list of some of our other goals under Volunteering....(just not enough hours in the day for a few folks to accomplish! )
Thanks, Leanne

20 yr old, 14h, liver chestnut Arab mare. This mare was quite cute she kept coming up as if to say when is it my turn? She is friendly, a little ansy on the ground but was not pushy. She rode nice and was willing to do all that was asked of her. She does have a bump on her knee but when we picked up her leg she had full range of motion. Though she appears sound at time of assessment the bumps on her knees indicate that there is some damage and that she will need to be watched for changes in her soundness and taken care of accordingly. $ 700.00www.columbiabasinequinerescue.org/DEF-HorsesProfile.asp?HoID=1019PLACEMENT SPECIALIST: Jennifer Marek Well her turn just happened. I just started the proceedings to take her. I found her a home and now I need all of you to kick in and help me out. I have been up night and day working on this mission and I just a few minutes ago filled out most of the application...... I am Rose and now I need the fund-raising part to kick in......... I cannot do this alone.... I don't have time but something told me that I had to do something to get her a stay of execution............ Now if I can get the help I need, I will be able to continue to care for her....... The main thing was to find her a place to go..... I did that. Now I need the money for her adoption and her quarantine and oh my Gosh the list just goes on and on............... I know you all love horses....... So do I. I am not in a position to have a horse but I couldn't see her go to slaughter. She reminds me of my Arabian that I had when I was a little girl. He kicked a barb wire fence and hurt his back leg really bad. He couldn't be a show horse because of the scar. The thought of getting rid of him NEVER crossed our minds because of that.......... I am sooooooooooooo tired...... I need all of you now.......... Love you all Rose.............

Are you SURE you are going to be capable of taking care of this horse? Where are you going to keep her? My gosh, a horse is alot different than getting any other pet. You can not get her and rely on your faith in God to take care of her. It takes money, not faith, to take care of a horse. Plus it take time and energy, and money and more time and energy and more money.

Leanne, I'm more than happy to start making the LIST!!! I can add some templates as well. I also found it necessary to explain the slaughter situation...at the end of the ad I often put, YES, slaughter has been abolished in the states...however...etc...as I was getting emails asking if these ads were a hoax as slaughter was abolished...well if only they knew!! I also add in back up websites such as www.stophorseslaughter.com and the grisly vidoes from mexico slaughterhouses from the HSUS website...but will add all of this under the classifieds ads section, if that is correct.... alp324 and Kirsten2507....PLEASE DO make a list of the area Classified Ads info...it would be a great help to us...we also listed the request for a "template" ad that people can use for reference when placing their ads. Hi Rose- thank you for your interest in Aries. She is a beautiful mare. To my understanding, the person adopting must pay a portion of the expenses of the horse. It doesn't bring me much comfort that you are asking for help for her and the next three months of her care. What is to come after that? Please understand the financial requirements that come with maintaining a horse, let alone the physical. I truly mean no "ill will" with this post, I just want the best for the horse AND the adoptor. Best of Luck. Again- Thank you for wanting to adopt a Slaughter Bound Horse.

You can not get her and rely on your faith in God to take care of her. It takes money, not faith, to take care of a horse. Plus it take time and energy, and money and more time and energy and more money. I know that. I have a place for her. I can afford her board. I will need help with vet bills and stuff like that if it should arise. When I came into this, I did not do it alone. I have a friend that is working with me that has horses. I live in a codo..... I take care of horses but they are not mine.... I felt so compelled to save her that I just did everything I could to find a place for her... It is not easy to find homes for horses. I am a grad student. I do not work. I coach fitness/aerobics and balance.... I prefer not to talk about my finances but I can tell you this. If my dad finds out that I did this, he will spazz....... I have not told him............ I know I can't depend on God..... but I CAN ask for guidance and he told me to be honest...That is what I am doing. I don't want her to go to slaughter. I am sure that there are others that could do a better job than me but I seemed to be the only one that went through with the paperwork.... I did not go into this alone....... As I said, I am working with another woman...... Without her, NO I could NOT do this..... My life is very full. OK I'll post later.....

You know as I said earlier, I did not go into this with the intention of doing this alone. I was told that I would have help. I have a huge amount of things going on in my life.. I am only being honest. I don't want her on that truck any more than anyone else. I have to be honest though. I cannot afford to take on all of the expenses because it is not my money. It is someone else's that I live on........... I am doing this to save her from being killed. If anything, it will buy her some time...... She needs time..... For now she does have a place to go indefinitely. I have that taken care of........ I have such a soft heart that sometimes I get myself into things that I can't handle but I only did what I thought was right for her....... I may have jumped the gun but I did the best I could do..... I found her a place to live and I do have some money.... If anyone wants to take this on that is fine.. I just don't want to see her die.......... She is way to pretty..........
