Another way to save Aires is to send a donation, no matter how big or small. Getting a horse should be a positive experience.

Another way to save Aires is to send a donation, no matter how big or small. Getting a horse should be a positive experience. That is right...... I may have jumped the gun... All I can say is she has a place to go and it is a permanet home for her unless I find someting better...... I did this out of love. I may "not" really be ready for this.. It is a good feeling to save a horse but reality is reality...... I am only being honest......... I will not lie..... I cannot spend another persons money on this that is against me doing this in the first place.... He told me if I do one, I will want to do them all....... He just doesn't want to see me get hurt...... Does this make sense? Am I making sense? I go the OTHER direction from here to take care of horses.......

Thank you for being honest but I think you need to wait until you can afford a horse and vet bills. No animal comes without vet bills. Even if she was given to you, nothing is free. Anything can come up. Maintenance on a horse is not cheap. If you really want to help Aries you can donate any amount to help care for her until she is adopted. It costs on the average for me $150-$200 a month per horse to maintain at home with food, supplements, farrier, vaccines, worming and any vet bills that may come up. If you think your Dad will spaz then I think you should wait. Fathers are not here forever and you should charish his opinion. Thank you for considering adopting a slaughter bound horse.

Rose, thank you for having such a big heart. We all want the very best for Aries and she needs someone who can handle any emergency she might have... I myself could never afford to have a horse.....maybe someday if I win the lottery LOL....but I do so many other things to try and find them homes or write letters to Congress to stop the slaughter of our horses.
We all help in different ways and there will be other ways for you to help these wonderful horses.
Thank you for joining our cause and putting yourself on the line....but there will be another day, another time for you to help another very special horse.

As a note to anyone new to the adoption process, the very first thing a Placement Specialist will ask anyone interested in a horse to do is: fill out an adoption application!

You are correct. This is why I have my car up for sale. I have had some speed bumps RE: helping in past and some of my family whom is very good to me has decided that I was not treated very well, hence they told me they did not want "their" money going to this type of cause. I understand and respect what other people feel. I am under the impression that Aries will be fine without me. I really do have to consider the "time" and I am so busy now that I don't have that time. She will need extra love and I am not in a position to take her on with medical considered. I thought I could do it. I wanted to do it and I had a place for her. It just isn't realistic for me at this time. This place I have to board her is about a 45 minute drive one way from here and I would have to make that trip twice a day. I couldn't find anything else that was within my budget close by. She will be fine. I know that. I will keep her in my prayers and she will always have a place in my heart. I just can't give it my all. I am going to have to wait until I can buy some land and have my own place to take in horses. That day is coming, I just don't know when...... I felt so sad when I read the add that I just let my heart do all the talking and not my head..... This mare needs more than I can give her. She needs medical and if she is pregnant, I am in big big trouble. I am so sorry but I don't want to put her in a position where someone else can give her what she truly needs.
I am all for the ban of horse slaughter and I want it stopped. I have always said these words in the past.
"Where are we gong to put all of these horses when Congress does pass this law"? Well now I know first hand that finding a home (a good home) is the hardest part. That is something that is going to be in my future. I will someday be able to have my own land and stable to board a few horses. I just can't do it now. I cannot be deceptive to my family. It isn't right. I received an email tonight that she was going to a better home. One that could give her what I cannot at this time.......... That is all I want for "her"......
Love Rose..............

I did start it but I can't do this... I need to wait for the day where I can do it ON MY OWN without funds from my family or others. I cannot keep a secret this big from my family when they adamently told me not to be involved anymore. It is their money. It isn't right. I will use some of my own money for "other" causes that I truly can do and feel good about it all the way around. This is a very long story and I just want to leave it at that. I am sorry for this. I will continue to support the horses as I always have in the way that I feel that I can.............

Aries does have an adopter going through the final stages of approval. I expect to change this thread from "High Risk" to "Pending" later today! Again Rose, thank you so much for caring. It's official: Aries has been adopted. Congratulations to Aries and Tasha! Aries will be traveling to Southern California to join some other very lucky Arabians who also happen to be rescues. Thank GOD!!!!!!! I did sell my car today so I can help with something RE: Aries if she needs it. I didn't get much out of my car because I wanted to sell it fast to get the money "on my own" so that I wasn't put in a position to lie to my family. As I said, I have been down a rocky road and things have happened where my family has turned bitter on this subject. I don't agree with their decision but it is their money that I live on for the most part so I cannot be deceptive. That is why I was talking about the fund-raising and this and that. I am so sorry that I couldn't take her but you know what? It wasn't meant for me to take her. I feel that I did help her and I hope that she knows that. Horses are good about things like that. If she is pregnant, I would really have been stressed. I have NEVER dealt with foaling. I want for all of you to know that she did have a very nice place to go with a lot of land and she would have had a lot of other horses to play with. There are three stallions there as well egaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaads.... LOL........ Let me know the status on her and if there is anything I can do at this point. I would love to help her if she needs it.........
It was not easy to let her go but I KNOW that it was the best for the horse. She is much better off with her new home. I knew that yesterday. I was sent an email last night and I cried with joy. When I found out today that she was only at pending, I started to get scared again and was going to stay up tonight and go back to work on this. NOW I know that I can get some rest and know that she will be just fine......... The gal that I am working with I intend to ask her if she would want to be a partner in my land and barn(s) when I do purchase it. My main long term goal is to get a place of my own set up for this very cause. The day will come when the funds will not be a problem. I hope not too soon but I know that this is a passion that I will persue.......... I am going to take extra non-profit classes for my masters so that I can learn more about all of this. I am working on that now. I decided to do one extra year of grad school taking only non-profit classes so that I will have a lot more education in a year from now.
I have to say that this has been a very very hard but heart warming experience. I don't really know if I myself had a hand in buying her some time but if I did, then I am grateful for that. I sure do know that I did a lot of praying. God answered my prayers. He put her in a place where she will get the best of care. That was his plan all along. He just put me in this as a person to take some steps that needed to be taken in the Interim......... I love her as if she was my horse......... Again, let me know if there is anything that I can do to help. I would love to send her a Christmas package of treats from me. If that is at all possible, I will make her up a basket of a variety of treats for Christ-mas.
Thank you God............. [/b] [/color]

Welcome Rose! And thanks for caring so much about Aries. Horses are definitely an expensive pursuit. While I can afford the equines I have, I also do give up on luxuries or extras to put money toward them instead. Not that I mind one bit. Feedlot horses can be more expensive, initially, due to oftentimes the serious lack of care for sometimes months before they arrive at the lot. And because of this, it's good to save up first, and to also have an emergency fund in place for each of your equines. You have plenty of time to reach the point where you have your own farm/ranch and rescue horses. It's no fun (nor safe) when the money isn't there nor if you have to spend all your time worrying that some unexpected thing might go wrong that you can't afford to handle. Of course it's also not fair to the horse in those kind of scenarios. You can make a huge difference in a lot horse's life in many ways besides owning that horse yourself. That you care so much is a great start for these last-shot lives. Many believe they shouldn't be saved because of the politics involved. But tell those individual lot horses that, and I bet they'd beg to differ. I saved two of my equines from an equine rescue where they were neglected and starved -- and many people thought I shouldn't have done so, because in one point of view, my adopting those two would enable the "rescue" to take in two more. But in my point of view, those two equines deserved a better life, regardless of their circumstances. I know the front lines of lot rescue can always use a person like you who "gets it". Em you are absolutely correct!!! there is no such thing as a free horse. It truly is a labor of love...and $$ but it is something you must be committed to both financially and physically. All of my horses were free when I was growing up LOL....... I had no clue how much my father was putting out for their care. WOW....... Now I do............

Rose, I really, really hope and pray you get a chance to meet Aries. I know how very much she means to you. mta: Rose, if it does work out where you can meet Aries on her way down to Socal, please make sure you get a picture. I would love to see it.
