Dream and Sterling have settled into their new paddock and ranch quite nicely. I moved them over last Saturday and Sterling was impressed with the extra room He's a little bit sore from his exertions, but overall looks good. Dream is quite happy and really likes her next door neighbors, the mini's They are really cute and they have an appy look to them with a blue eye, just like my Dream girl. I'll have to check for spots when I can see through the mud on their butts!

Had to share because Dream is cracking me up as usual I have added my girl Ally to the paddock with Dream and Sterling. This is giving Dream a much needed reprieve from Sterling as he is full of energy and mischief and she prefers the quiet life nowadays. Anyway, it's starting to get colder here and I noticed that Miss Dream has lost a bit of weight. So, I figure it's time to start stocking her up for the winter months. The proposition is difficult given that Sterling and Ally tend to boss Dream around and can eat faster....so, I need to separate Dream for supplements. Luckily, I have a little stall area where I can feed her. The "stall area" is just a pipe panel square under the shelter which is essentially just pipe panels with a roof . I bring Dreamy into her "stall" with 2 sets of eyes watching intently....Ally has a rather dismayed look as does Sterling. I can see the questions forming in their eyes; "Why is she going in there? I don't think I can reach her in there, can I? What is in that bucket? Why don't I have a bucket? Why aren't I in there?..." For Dream's part, there was no question in her eyes, but there was a smugness in her demeanor. It was so obvious, that I had to stop what I was doing and laugh. Dream knew they couldn't move her. She knew they couldn't take her food and she was quite comfortable with the new situation. She was comfortable enough to chew leisurely with her ears set at "half ornery" while her mates stared helplessly and confusedly at her still ample rear end. She seemed quite pleased with herself I proceeded to feed the other 2 in their normal feed bins. Sterling was quite happy to get his bucket, but Ally only took a few bites and returned to watch Dream, who was eating slowly out of her bucket in the stall. I cracked up again....After getting Ally's attention, she followed me back to her grain bucket, but looked up every few seconds to check on Dream. Apparently, eating is not as much fun when Dream is not around to swap buckets with

LOL..I can picture Chester contorting to get inside! I think Sterling was contemplating a limbo manuever, but he was easily distracted with his own bucket

Miss Dream is still doing well, but may have Cushing's. I've started her on some low carb supplements and we're watching her pretty closely. She's dropped a bit of weight and retained some of her long coat over the summer, so those are fairly good indicators of a Cushing's type issue. She's a happy camper and still carts my niece and nephew around for short rides. I can ride her too, but we only walk nowadays. She gets adequate exercise since she lives in a big pen with Sterling He's a mover and a shaker, so he ensures that his girls are too! All in all a good report for the older gal. She's happy and enjoying herself.
