Norma Jean: was rescued from the feed lot at the beginning of 2006. She is a very sweet Draft that halters, leads, trailers, and is friendly. Would make good trail horse. She needs some consistency & more training to get her back into shape, but shows no signs of lameness or any other physical disability. She needs to have a psecial person to form a bond with. Norma Jean has been riden some and with more time will blossom into a great riding horse. She is in foster care at Hytyme Equine Rescue in Eagle Creek Oregon. Adoption Fee: $1250.00 Contact Jim at Hytyme Equine Rescue for More information on Norma Jean. Email: jim@htequinerescue.com Website: www.hytymeequinerescue.net

I will tell my boarder about her. Not sure what they're price range is, sence they would have to pay shipping too, right?

I can vouch for Norma Jean, she is well worth the money. We almost adopted her but got Finn instead. Norma Jean is a very sweet gal, she needs someone to work with her one on oneand to get a tune up. She takes a little bit to warm up but once she does and you show her she can trust you she is right in your pocket. She loved my hubby right away, but most horses that can be a little standoffish do, he is very quiet and unassuming. It took her a couple visits to believe I was OK. I have the feeling that before she came to Jim's she was not treated very nice. She can look at you with BIG eyes if she is unsure about you, but her first reaction is to walk away. Her head is HUGE!! and She has beautiful big dark eyes and they are kind. Once she finds that special someone I bet she will blossom!

It's hard to tell from the description, but do you know if she's actually broke to ride, or has she just given pony rides?
I think she looks like a big wooly mammoth! I like her smile in the summer pic.

I like her smile in the summer pic. A gal had bought her and did "some" riding on her, she needs to have more training but was ridden some.

Thanks, atticus. I've been forbidden to get another horse until March, so I'm sure someone will grab her before I can. She sure is a sweet looking girl - so much character in her face!

You never know she may still be there in March. She has been hanging out with Jim for a long time now and is just hanging out until she finds the right person. March is only 3 weeks away!!

What's to know? Drafts are big and sweet. They can be hell on fences, but only if they happen to relax on one.

Norma Jean lived in the same pasture as Earlybp's Eddie. As long as you get the draft feed down, find a farrier that will actually trim them, and know that everything is bigger....more food, more wormer, more poo-poo you are doing good!

She is such a nice gal. Not nearly as pushy as Moora. Though I like Moora a lot too. There's nothing better than giving a draft an apple, and being up to your elbow in horse drool.

How old is this mare? And how big? Just wondering. I have been keeping my eye out for a riding draft mare. Actually, more wishing..... Until I find a home for my older TB mare, I can't get another horse!

I love this mare, but I went ahead and bailed Zephyr off the lot. I think (hope!) that Zephyr will be a good fit for my situation. (Plus the urgency of the feedlot horses' situation is hard to dismiss!)
This is all second-hand information, so if interested, please talk to Jim and Sherry directly: Norma Jean is 9 years old and nearly 17hh. She came to Hytyme from the feedlot a year ago. I guess she had trust issues initially, but is really warming up to people and would benefit from more one-on-one time. She can only be considered green to ride, but is confident and not spooky. Again, she just needs more time/training. Jim thinks she may have some freisian in her based on her looks and temperment (on the spunkier end of the draft temperment scale.)

New updated pic of Miss Norma Jean!! She is still looking for that special someone. I cannot believe this horse has not been adopted. She is one of those horses that you can tell is going to be her person "soulmate". Don't overlook her!

She is a sexy thang! I relly wish someone would adopt Miss Norma Jean, she is an amazing horse once she gets to trusting, those old ingrained PMU ways are hard to break sometimes. I just have such a feeling about her, once she has her "person" she is going to be the MOST amazing horse...I just know it. Now to find that person! I anyone is on the fence about NJ, think of The Black and Alec in The Black Stallion....she will be someones "The Black" for sure, you just have to win her over, & she is open to it. I just get it from her..... ;D

Let's see...if Norma Jean were mine, I think she'd need a name change to reflect her new sexiness......How about Esmeralda? or Inara? or Delilah? Hmmmm...any ideas?
