I hate to ask... but I guess this is the place for it. I have really been left in a bad spot. I was not able to prepare my home and pay all of Passions expenses. The person who offered her care did not work out. I am treading water with her vetting and care and extra transport costs. I have nothing left to get a place ready for her and where she is staying is a temporary solution. I am getting donations of items to use for an auction I will run online. I am hoping to have that in place by Oct. Again I know everyone here is streched and I hate to ask. I updated her site.... www.Passionsrescue.comThis is the image a fella is putting on a blanket for the auction... Thanks.

The balance at the vet is $285. and does not include the x-rays or bloodwork. He will do all of her legs and hip x-rays for around $400.00, bloodwork for $150.00. Her teeth can wait but will need to be done. If I can get those costs covered I can use my money to finish her paddock. I need $200. for the CAT and for around $600.oo I can give her a great place with a 12x12, it already has running water. Even if I can just get help with hay and the things at the feed store that frees up money for the vet.... I am paying $17.00 a bale for decent hay!!! I don't have the money to get anything delivered in quantity. I can't get any breathing space. It cost an extra $110.00 to just transport her. I had to pay the farrier extra($60.00) because of the crap he put up with at that other place(the guy who went out asap when her hoof broke, he said he will never go there again). I'm in a bad spot. I thought I had at least a month to concentrate my resources for her "house"... In a funk...

What type of items do you need for your fund raising auction? I have some nice items that I could donate that could help you with your fund raising efforts. Please let me know. I have a very beautifully hand made necklace that would be a good fund raiser it's has a "dressage horse" and is handmade. They have been selling for over 50 dollars at the craft shows down here in Oregon..

I recieved nothing. The place where she was staying did not pay for anything. I even drove her hay up. That is why I made that other post. If people thought they were helping Passion she saw none of it. I recived $25.oo donated directly to the webite for Passion. She has lost weight.... see the website. I had to get her out of there asap and paid to have her hauled to a friends. She is calming down and appears to be bearing weight again on her leg. I have two other horses. The lame clydesdale and Zahra(cber Platinum) and they are o.k. I have paid all the vet, farrier and food.... Z had a biopsy last month and it was benign, thank goodness. I can afford to care for the horses. I just got caught with no breathing space with Passion. My husband is cutting down a tree and we will use that for posts. We can sink them with cement and I have alittle waterproofer left from Z's shelter. I have a blanket donated with her pic and three cofee mugs. Some nice buttons with Barbaro from an FOB I will run the auction online when I get enough stuff AND have the time to organize it. Oct. I think. The necklace sounds really nice if you would donate one I would be greatful. Thanks so much!!!! Fencing would be a godsend. I've gotta get back ouside and clean the goat stalls today. Goat feet get done this afternoon. I can't seem to drink enough coffee to move any faster!!! Modified for typos...again

It sounds as if you're in this a bit upside down... I read your list of priorities - not to disrupt your plans, but her legs and hips are not likely to change and usually there is little to be done , however her teeth can be leveled and improve her chewing.. and help her weight problem immediately,,, I'd spend my vet nickle there first. It might also reduce your hay bill. I don't know your status, but perhaps a rescue, if you are not, would take Passion as a poster child and allow people who donate hay, or other materials to her, to get credit for it... This would also allow you to approach lumber yards etc. about donating materials.. roofing supply outfits always have over ordered roofing, batch ends... sometimes you can get these at a great discount ( or for tax credit from the rescue) you might have to pay something but if you offer them the balance in a credit- that is very attractive to them. I'd approach the local pony clubs and 4-H horse clubs and see if there is any interest in helping a rescue horse.. they often take on community projects.. You can probably work this out , if you can garner some local support.

The weight problem was that she was not being fed where she was. They were not giving her enough food. The guy who ran the place kept saying she was fat.
This place approached me, called the media and then did not give her the proper care. That is why I moved her. They had me fundraise(they are a 501) and told me the money would be used to help passion I EVEN BOUGHT HER HAY. they would give her 2 flakes at 11a.m. and 2 flakes at 4pm. that's it. I complained and it never changed. I was told she was fat. I would bring more hay and hardly any would have been fed. This 501 claimed to be a medical facility and could give her everything she needed. He scofed at the idea of QT and told me that it is crazy.
Her foot broke and no one told me. I came and got a farrier the next day and the guy who runs the place made it almost impossoble to fix her feet. My farrier will not go back.
She stopped bearing weight on her leg and i was told it was going on for over 24hours and no one called me. They restricted the times I could see her to a couple times a week.... to bring hay. I explained everything in an earlier thread. The last straw was when he lied about what the vet told him. I couldn't wait for Shannon to come back from vacation so I paid someone to move her.
I was held hostage because I had no trailer. I got her out as fast as I could.

Do you have her where you can feed her now? If you do, steeping her food in boiling water will help her digest it better , while she waits for her teeth to get done. Do you have a rescue that would sponsor you so that donations could be tax decuctable for the donator, that'd really help with your hay and materials search?

I'm glad that Passion has a safe place to land. It can be quite a trial to get them all healthy, believe me we have been there done that, our 1st horse died of strangles at Pilchuck vet 10/06 my horse Amber passed also at Pilchuck 11/06 ,Black Licorice. passed of old age 12/06 and Yosemite had tumor surgery at WSU and the 2 days before he was to come home, (he had been there for 8 days) ,the vet called to say he was in colic, they did what was needed and no change so we went to surgery, on the table it discovered he was contorted and would be best to let him pass....2/07 I feel your frustration at the cost and the need to make them well. Keep the faith having a rescue is VERY VERY EXPENSIVE so far on just our horses that have passed we invested 30k. But it has been worth it because of who is in our barn now. Just keep smiling it will get better Joan

Thanks... I did have a rescue taking donations but they did not use them for Passion. I have no idea what they did. I moved her.
I asked Sam if I could link through CBER but she never got back to me. I know she gets busy. She told me I could link the site to Passions page but did not answer about the donation part. I figured it was too complicated. I put in a button on passions page to link to the in memory page on cber... I need to fix the html today so it works!
I've got her on merit senior and half cup oil.2x's daily for now, dosing her 2 times a day with msm.(I want to get a better joint supplement but this will have to do for now) free choice grass hay. Plus the antibiotics. When she stops those I'd like to give her probiiotics for a week or so... Still cleaning and packing the abscess daily. Iodine/sugar wrapped in little swimmers(greatest idea ever, thanks) and wrapped in duct tape... silver slipper.
djrepp if you could donate feed that would be awesome! katy donated $10.00 last night.... made me cry. Passions website has all the info for her vet and feedstore. I think they are both closed on Sunday.
I have done rescue for a long time. Wildlife babies used to have a 30% mortality, out of 53 babies this year we didn't loose one! Belle is the first horse for me in "rescue". the $13,700. rescue so far in vet bills alone. But she is healthy and safe for the first time in her life. She is a 1700lb. lap dog! And the best therapist you could ever want and actually cheaper! I don't get my hair done or buy clothes.... haven't been on a vacation in 8 years... The animals give it all back tenfold! But it can be tough, lonely, and not understood by alot of people...
The support on the boards and some of the friendships I'm making (shannon, kelly, deb, everyone) are a lifeline!
MTA: GEEESH! This is turning into a "purge it" thread... thanks for "listening" but it is really helping to have a place to "put it." Does that make sense?

You know it doesn't necessarily have to be a 'horse' rescue... our dog rescue helps other animals too, just because they may not be set up to handle a rescued horse doesn't mean they wouldn't be a clearing house for donations... see what's close to you.. because that really makes a difference - then you can offer the donator an incentive to help. The MSM is wonderful - it's given a new lease on life to all my older horses' connective tissues but will not help you on the joint issue- just in case you thought it would.

I learned with my dogs that the structure of Chondroitin is 'too big' for animals to really benefit from it - my equine vet/chiro/accupuncturest recommends Glucosamine and MSM. They are less expensive and work well. Yucca also helps with pain................
MSM also helps with allergies - so if anyone has a dog, horse, or husband with allergies, give MSM a try - it doesn't work quickly, so if they are spring allergies, start now on daily MSM . My hubby used to get cortisone shots for his allergies, I got him to start on the MSM, and now you would never know when the Junipers bloom - it has taken about three years to get almost symptom free, but it has been worth it! He noticed a difference the first year - less itchy watery eyes, and less sneezing. There was a big difference the second year, and this spring, he had virtually no symptoms...........................just an FYI

I don't know what went to the rescue. We did the paper and tv. I recieved $10.00 from katy last night $25.00 from Debbie P. $40.00 from "the Iceman," a Percheron gelding in Miami Fla. who is contemplating a marriage proposal... The original bail and ferry money was paid by a single donation from someone who frequents this board and AB I was told by people that they had gone out to see Passion and made donations but nothing I can confirm. I was told by HH that they had a call from someone who "would support the whole farm" while Passion was there. I had been on the phone with someone who said they worked for Tippy Hedron the day before and they wanted the name of the 501. Alot of people wanted the name of the 501. So I have no idea exactly what was raised. The "foundation" that runs HH is in CA. somewhere.
I have two balnkets coming that have been donated by a manufacturer. I am giving one to Passions unseen angel. I will auction the other off. I am being given coffee mugs with Passions pic. I am framing her tag and a photo of the reciept together. An Fob has donated some buttons with Barbaro on them The necklace from quatzie Shannons pledge and help And the feed from djrepp. My husband has cut posts and I will paint the waterproofer on them tomorrow, I have alittle more work to do to get the place cleared. So another week before I can transport her here. If she had bailed like she should have she would have sat safe at Debs in paid Qt. (And not sitting there loosing weight because she wasn't getting enough food with someone who thinks qt is a joke). My money and energy would have built her house and she'd be coming home...
