Age: 20+ PS - Sam - cberpres@nwinfo.net Roper was GREAT and very responsive. He was used as an old rope horse and the way he rode it was obvious that he did it well. Responded to neck reining, leg pressure, stopped, backed over all a very responsive horse. He would make a great pleasure horse or someone looking for a horse that requires no training just some senior care as he continues to gracefully age. A horse that is ready to go!

Just posted an ad for him on EquineHits.com
Is there a specific ad site for a horse like this with so much skill?

How can people just throw them away. This group of horses has hit me so hard.

It's heartbreaking. Roper seems like he only wants to please someone and he gets thrown away. I'll never understand how people can do that.

I have an ad going for Roper on Craigslist SF, too.
I am going to go update both ads right now to reflect that he has until Weds night.
Crap.

We had someone pay for a vet check for Roper. It turns out he has a heart murmur... He will not be safe for riding but will make a great pasture ornament! This is sad news as someone was interested in him for a child... The vet said he is a super nice horse!

But how bad was the murmur? Mild to moderate murmurs can be "no big deal."
Half the horses out there have murmurs, I think....And half the time nobody is aware of it!!

Did the vet say he couldn't be ridden at all, or what grade heart murmur he has?
This poor horse was in my dream last night. His mane was braided, he gave kisses like a dog and he was waiting for someone to pick him up, while I waited with him. Two little girls came over and fed him carrots.
I wonder when he last had a carrot. This is the kind of horse that is so easy to own, because he knows it all, has been there and done that -- his great training and sweetness deserve to be rewarded with a home, not a frightening truck ride to a terrifying, painful end.
Please someone, can you be this horse's angel? Do you have room in your heart and on your farm or ranch for this wonderful horse who gave his life to helping humans?
He's waiting, just like in my dream. Waiting for a miracle that wouldn't be so hard for someone to make happen for him.

This is sad news as someone was interested in him for a child... The vet said he is a super nice horse! Unless he was taken to WSU & put on the monitors, there is no way a vet can just listen to his heart & say he can't be rode. I just went thru this last year with one of our horses, our vet here, said to stop riding him & take him to WSU. We took him & they said he was fine to ride, race whatever we wanted to use him for. What may sound bad, doesn't always look bad when they see it.

This news was enough to put off his potential adopter. This person is in California and looking for his first horse to share with his family. He spoke directly with the vet and decided it was just too risky.
Roper needs a miracle.

I will see what I can do to find him a home. Would he be a good confindence builder for a young boy?
