what would make that large of a bump on her ankle? She sure is a cutie... Imagine coming out every morning to be loved on by her .....

Perhaps the vet should look at that bump right away. Could it be cancer?

Even if it was, there's a baby in there. Two lives are at stake. This just makes me sick. What was the original owner thinking? ?

this mare needs to be bailed and foaled out in a safe enviornment. I am asking around for people to donate space if her bail is paid, as a last resort. She is carrying a baby, and CANNOT ship!!

How lame is she? How much to get her vet checked? They will want to do x-rays so it won't be cheap. Was the FLO told anything about her injury?

Please can someone adopt this mare? When are we allowed to ask for help at ABR again? These are quality horses losing their lives because there's no money or homes. I can only do small amounts of money every now and again and this makes me feel guilty to see all these wonderful horses with only a chance to be saved! Oh is she lame on this ankle or just not able to be ridden? Pasture sound?

I noticed that this mare's information is listed at www.allbreedpedigree.com/kidnaps+kadydid . It looks like she is bred to perform. Several AQHA champions and Race winners close in on the dam's side. I'm not quite as familiar with the thoroughbreds on the sire's side though.

It looks like her last foal listed there was registered with APHA. Anyone here have access to their record's to maybe do a search on her progeny?
I think after I get in from feeding I can probably get a search done with AQHA to see if she has a performance record herself or if any of her AQHA do.

Well I can fill you in on part of her dams family.
I knew Leo Bingo in his later years, and once owned one of his daughters (Miss Leo Flight) and 2 of his grandsons. He is one of my fav Quarter Horse sires.
Leo Bingo was a Superior Halter Champion, He raced and did not too badly, and he earned an ROM in Arena (he was being used as a cutting sire when I met him in 1983.) He is a leading sire of producing daughters. His daughters were popular with Paint breeders because he had tall white socks and a big blaze and he passed on lots of chrome to his foal. A friend of mine had a full sister to my mare (Miss Leo Bingo) she was a reg paint because of the old "excessive white" rule.
The sons I knew (worked on a ranch where they were standing) were Banjos Bingo and Little Bur Bingo. Banjo (Jr) was a great cutting horse, but did a limited amount of competing because his owner was ill. I have seen ads for a few stallions related to Jr and Bur... and IF I did decide to breed Mouse again I would be love for it to be to someone with Leo Bingo in their bloodlines!
For those who didn't notice, or know.. Beggar Girl is by Beggar Boy and he is I believe the only full brother (or sister) to Black Gold. Black Gold (and Beggar Boy) were out of Useeit and Black Toney. Useeit was reg'd as a TB but there is some speculation that her dam might have been a quarter type mare and not a TB mare. She was a fantastic sprinter and passed it on to her foals. Beggar Boy though he was a TB sired some terrific sprinters and was considered an excellent stallion to breed your quarter mares to.
Useeit and Black Gold are featured in a book by Marguerite Henry. Black Gold only sired one foal before he had to be put down. The foal is said to have been killed by lightning in pasture. Black Gold was destroyed after he broke a leg during a race.. and he continued to run on it.

I did a search with AQHA and she only has one foal with AQHA. It doesn't look like he did anything competition wise with the AQHA. Of course he is just a yearling so hasn't had much chance to do anything. Kidnaps Kadydid appears to have no performance/show record with AQHA. Of course the bump on her fetlock joint is possibly the explanation for that. Unfortunately IF she is bred back to the same stallion it doesn't look like he has ever done anything with the AQHA either, except be a buckskin stallion. If it will encourage anyone I will say that Kadydid's last foal out of that stallion was a buckskin.

Here is the information I found on Kadydid's sire
Wanpum (c. by Knights Choice). 3 wins at 2 and 4, $55,135, 2nd Yakima Futurity (YM, $14,400), Yakima Meadows Stallion S. [NR]. Sire.

Last time I asked about doing a vet check at the feedlot I was told that the vet did not have a portable Xray machine and we couldn't take the horse to the vet until the money was paid for the horse unfortunately. I can double check and see if this has changed.

This is the kind that Chuck likes to send to the slaughter house- a horse with a visible defect!

Maybe we could get a little more info on the bump without a vet check. For instance, is it soft or hard? Does it limit the movement of her foot at all? Is there any visible wound to the area, or scarring? Does she walk sound on it at this time? If these questions could be answered, maybe it would give someone a hint as to the type of vet care she would need to see if she could be made into a riding horse, or if she is always going to be a pasture pal. There is nothing wrong with a pasture pal, as long as you know that is what she will be. (I know, I have a few of those myself)
Also, is her foal going to be registerable?

I emailed Hillarie pretty much this exact list of questions this morning. She is going to try to get more information from Sam. I'll email her and ask if she wants to just post the response here or if it is fine for me to post the responses.

Thank you for all you work on trying to get her homed. I dont know about that bump but it looks like a old injury that might have calcified? my opinion. She does need to get out of there badly.

My horse Tolo has that same thing (bout 1/2 that size) on his hind. We had vet out and asked if it was anything that would effect his movement and if he could jump or not and she said that same thing... that it was just calcified, and we have been working him and all and he is fine, it does have a little scar like hairless spot on the very end of it....

I think that we need to focus on getting her a home offer and then off of the lot.

Hillarie told me they don't know who the foal's sire is when I asked if there is a Breeder's certificate available. The certificate is necessary to register the foal with AQHA.
