A vet friend of mine gave me his opinion of the horse's leg. Please remember that this is his opinion based on a picture. It maybe helpful if someone is interested in this horse...........
That large lump appears to be a bone exostosis. A bone exostosis is usually secondary to chronic degenerative osteoarthritis which is commonly referred to as degenerative joint disease. (DJD) This type of injury is usually caused by trauma. The size of the lump suggests the possibility that the fetlock joint may be fused, however it would require radiographs to determine this for certain. If the joint is fused then the horse is not in any pain now from this condition, but if the joint is not fused it should be very lame.

Well, I worked on my mom, but she likes to rescue dogs from being euth. so it was a bit easier.... print off her picture, say that she is going to ship to slaughter soon and is going to die.... with the baby.... and stick in right infront of the toliet!! Or somewhere he has to look at it all the time!

Yes, if she is not lame, which according to all reports, she is not, then she is not in pain and should do just fine and deliver a wonderful surprise!

This mom to be has no problems on her front leg. she moves around with no issues. It does NOT seem to impair her in any way. Lets get her off the lot. Anyone have any extra research time on their AQHA website?? contact me and we can try to see if there is anything in aqha like a breeders cert. no gaurantees, but worth a look!!

I already checked the AQHA records for her. Other than the 2007 foal nothing is listed for her. The breeder's certificate section doesn't bring anything up for her but it is possible they didn't file one for her or that they are restricted to the stallion or mare owner (I didn't think this was supposed to be the case for just viewing them but it is always possible) I do know who her original breeder and her last recorded owner and the owner of the sire of her last registered foal are but I believe that CBER's policy is that we shouldn't contact the last owner. modified to add I had been wondering about the policy on contacting her original breeder though.

Anyone have access to the APHA records research? I was thinking they might be another good place to try checking for the current foal she is carrying.

If she has been running around on frozen ground, keeping out of the way of the more aggressive horses, and she hasn't turned up lame yet, my best guess is that she can handle it.
Anybody. Please, anybody. . .she's got a baby in there.

I will take this mare and give her a safe place to foal and keep her for the rest of her life. I will also take care of the foal. I have one other bred mare so she will have a friend to raise her baby with. I have two foaling stalls and am more than willing to take her. The problem is I just adopted Mr. Magoo and do not have enough funds to cover both horses. If this mare gets her fees donated I will come and pick her up. I have lots of experience if foaling out mares and would love to take care of her. The poor thing. Shame on whoever let this happen to her. What are people thinking?

Hi, I am adopting Mr. Magoo and have offered Kady a home. I have a nice barn with a foaling stall and am a vet tech and have lot of experience foaling mares out. I'd give her a home for life and she would be able to raise her foal with my other mare. I wish I had the funds to pay in full for her and Mr. Magoo but my husband is in a wheelchair right now and off work so money is tight. I do have 30 ton of hay stored so I'm good there. I have had a very generous offer from Kelley to loan me the funds. I just have a problem borrowing money when I don't know when I can pay it back. Especially from someone I don't even know. How sweet and generous of her. I am at a loss as to what to do. I would dearly love to have the mare. Any ideas anyone?

If everyone donated $10.00 we may be able to get some funds together to help her out. That is $100.00 for every 10 people on the board so i challenge you all to donate $10.00 heck i drink that a day at starbucks. Dont tell Cathie
