Our trip north has been postponed, but it gives us some time to plan and time to hold (if anyone is interested) a clinic/playday in No Cal on March 17th. We just need to know if it's something you guys want to do, and if there is a place to play at. Sorry Caryn we are hoping to have a full trailer so Chester will not be able to attend unless someone promises to give him a ride home! ;D

I'm game!!! I can see if the arena where we do our shows is available, I think it will be sort of weather dependant tho... it is the Martinez arena. at the Waterfront.
We could also look at one of the nice parks for a trail ride...
hmmmm.... in any case, we're game! tell us when and where.... !!! We'll bring Bob Marley, Taffy-ola, and prolly a few others, like Poncho Pony, Camelot, and I'd be glad to bring Sundance just to show him off!!!

I WANNA GO! My roommate and I only have one horse, since Birdie hasn't come down yet, but I want to! Tahoe would need a ride, though... if anyone can help me out? She's in fremont. If there's a trailer I can borrow or something...

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Any way we can do it on the 18th? ? I really want to go but it's opening day for Little League and first game....hmmm..... Maybe we'll get the 11 o'clock game and I can meet y'all after, fingers crossed. If so - I'll cancel my evening plans for 3/17. I can also inquire as to the available of Robertson Park in Livermore.....I don't believe anything will be happening that day! We might need to provide event insurance but that's cheap - and I can get it through the office.

ROBERTSON PARK, LIVERMORE Dates that park is not avialable: April 29/30 (Spring Stampede) and weekend of June 9th/10th - Rodeo MTA - IT IS AVAILABLE ON BOTH 3/17 AND 3/18!!! The only bummer is......WE'D HAVE TO USE THE STADIUM!!!! The rodeo pens will be unavailable, but the big arena would be our play area as they're putting the cover over the other arena at that time. $300 if we go as a general group, $200 if we go non-profit registry (CBER, etc.) $250 refundable deposit if everyone brings home all of their horses, um, droppings. We'd need to get insurance and I'll see whether that would be cheaper going through LARPD, or through one of my companies. Next question - do we want to do this on such short notice and all chip in? We'd have to pay all those fees in advance, ASAP. Or, would we want to set a date a bit farther out, hopefully the other arena would be available (cover done) and a little less expensive? I'd say charge a flat rate per rider/horse combo, and a smaller fee for each add'l family member that's riding, or each add'l horse, and any excess profits can go to help the horses. Thoughts!!! And thanks for thinking of this Tock!!!!

eirualaerdna - I'm going to have to see if my friend is available to haul Reno down there! I'll invite her to play of course...but if she can't Reno and I may be riding through vineyards and cattle pastures and hoping we don't get killed to get over there.....lol

Hey MK, I'll totally take you up on the offer! If Pippin were a little further along in her (oops, make that OUR) training, I'd bring her. But I don't think she (oops, make that we) would be ready!

mickeyfan.. haha my best friend and I might have to ride her horse together bareback to livermore if that's where everyone's going to be! Otherwise I don't know how else I'd get there. It would be nice if Birdie was down here so we could take two horses and two people instead of two people, one horse! I guess Tahoe really needs to worry more about if the weight of two people would kill her.. ahh! lol

Well heres going to be the deciding factors. We will be traveling down from WA with horses so.. we either need to send the driver on home with them, or put them up somewhere. If we send them on we could do the clinic sunday and then head for home in a car.. Lifesavers charges $25 a day w/a horse and $10 to audit but they have an arena and insurance already So I guess you all have to decide if it's something you can do in a month, or would rather wait. (Just figured since we were going north already) Angi wanted it to be affordable to all.

It NEVER rains in sunny California!

Becky - you're funny! It never rains? Reno had a flipping fit the other night because of the "lake" that sprouted up in front of his paddock gate. He maneuvered his entire body to use the 10 inches of dry land against the fence to get in and out of his paddock. Of course, never mind that I had to walk through the puddle......
ROBERTSON PARK
If we're using the stadium, they've got the big arena, and a round corral. If by chance the cover is done, or not started, and we use the outer arena, there is a smaller warm up arena as well. No overnight camping/boarding, unfortunately.
I was thinking......$25/family and $5-10 bucks for each add'l horse? Includes whatever games you want to try? Maybe get some donations for prizes.... MTA - again - all overages from entry fees would go to CBER/Angel Fund......or?
If we want to go ahead and do it on 3/17 or 3/18 then we need to get crackin, and unfortunately I just paid life insurance (again) so can't front the fees. I'd need someone to either front it for us, or have people start sending in the funds now.
If we plan it for a later date, we'd have more time to get more organized (although chaos is sometime fun!) and maybe more people could come?
MTA - I added one more date that I can't be there - the weekend of 4/8-9....I'll be in San Francisco at the Grand NAtional helping my friends drill team......

1st - are we continuing w/ March 17 or 18, or a later date? Survey says: Post your answers here please......
2nd - If we change it, is a Saturday or Sunday better for everone? Personally I like Sundays so I don't miss my son's game, BUT, he can live without me for one. I'm game either way.

A later date would be nice....when the weather is more dependable and people can plan ahead. Are there any facilities that would be more centrally located? I like the idea of Martinez....or maybe Metropolitan Horseman's arena in Oakland?
HEY! Here is a good idea! Let's get a team together for the "Battle of the Barns" competition at Martinez Horseman's----I think it's the last week of July. They are taking deposits for team slots right now! The theme this year is Las Vegas, and it is a playday. They have info up on their website. Hey, my mule even has an ELVIS costume! How Vegas is that?

I've been in touch with Angie and she is willing to come up at another time as long as we can cover her gas and lodging expense, which I'm sure we could do. I would be happy with a later date, also, but if we're on for the 17 th I'm going to start rearranging my schedule so I can be there!

If we do it later, when it's getting hot....Livermore will have the cover on. (It's been a long hard battle but it's coming!)

Well Angi is willing to do another day, but we will already be traveling thru on the 17th. So I think it's going to be up to you all.
As for the horse that isn't far enough along in training... Angi can do a clinic for those who want training tips, trailer loading and such.. So horses who need some of that would certianly be welcome. And DON'T be ashamed to show up with an ill mannered beast! Angi tends to laughs when working with tough horses. She likes my mare even though she has tried to smoosh her many times. I had to swat/spook/shove mine in the trialer for the first clinic and felt like a hypocrit while doing it, but it was the best thing I ever did with my beasts!
The folks/horses who don't need a clinic can play games.
We could plan for a bigger event later on, I think it would be even better after a mini version to work out any bugs, but it's up to you all. If you are willing to commit and send in $$ to rent the arena.
Sunday could work as long as we got back on the road with the horses at a reasonable hour in the afternoon.
So its up to you all, who is willing to send advance funds? I can cover $100 of the deposit. Will they let us roll the deposit to the next event? Should we do it as a Rescue Only function or as the Calif friends of CBER? Doing it as Friends of CEBR does perhaps afford us the lower cost. Does Hytyme or someone else have 5013c status yet? We can always split it between two rescues. (lol if we make anything!)

Hey Katie, Can Tank and I hitch a ride with you? When it's not raining sounds good to me. Hey Icey.. should we drop off Angi's mare on our way up? She needs to be handled more by strangers so she gains some confidence.

If people can help w/ the $$/deposit, that would be great.
Also - WE ONLY GET THE DEPOSIT BACK IF WE CLEAN UP AFTER OUR HORSES, NO DUMPING!!! (pun intended!)
A mini day isn't a bad idea......
