Hi All, I rode Sarge out on the trails with a friend and her horse the other day. Sarge was a real trooper. His condition is coming back slowly as is his weight gain. His feet were trimmed April 6th { I think he slept through it}. Lisa will post new pictures soon!! Have fun,Rocky

Hey! Guess what? I get to ask you for pictures and updates now!! I just realized that.
UPDATE PLEASE!!!! :-)
I miss this guy. Even though he was totally involved with the filly and I was a distant second, I still think he was affectionate in his own way. Things going okay, Rocky?

Update/Sarge.Well ,let me see.... I rode him yesterday bareback in the outdoor. When I first get on him he is a creaky but warms up and then loves to trot. His weight seems to flucuate and that bothers me. As you know I have added alfalfa in the evening to his grass hay. I think he likes me and seems to know the time of my arrival(food) as he is waiting by the gate for me to bring him in. His mental state is hard to pin point, he is not a jump for joy cheerleader type of guy rather a "hey, Guido whats up?" type. I hope he is content... I will snap some pictures of him today, his leg(good) and a hoof documentation... Did I tell you lately how much I love him? He is my pride and joy..

Happy May 01,2007 All!! I wormed Sarge yesterday again and I am taking the day off today so that I can go up and ride him early and spend the day with him (concept). I usually am on the run when I see him but go faithfully everyday, it makes my day complete.... I have noticed some blueing in his good eye and am having the vet out soon to look at it!!! Bye, Rocky

Hi All, I continue to work Sarge. We have been in the outdoor arena working at an easy pace for him. He really seems to enjoy it. He is now backing with more ease. He has some stiffness in the front soooo alot of warm up walking.... That is it for now!! Rocky

My horses would make me take them to Western WA if they saw these pics. It's the kind of grass we only dream about.
Is he doing better with the stiffness with some warmer weather? Did the vet think the eye was a big deal?
Hope all is well. Tell Sarge the filly turned One this month. :-)

Hi Girls,I informed Sarge that "the Filly"was now one.... he listened politely and then asked for more hay!! I really want the vet to come out but know that if I wait until July she can do a full vetting. What do you think Lisa??? July would be his 6 month check,,, Yes, we do have green, green grass but the downside is rain, rain rain. Sarge is still stiff walking though he doesn't seem to be in pain and his flexion is good. Will ask the Vet about supplements. Will ride today. Have fun!! Rocky. Hi Rodeo, saw you in Edmonds the other day on my way to work!!

The vet came out today and looked at Sarge's '' good" eye and cleaned his sheath. He also said that Sarge only needs 30-50 more pounds and that in 2 weeks I should start cutting back his food. He is coming back the week of June 11, 2007 for Sarge's full vetting!! So that is my update...

Did Sarge LOVE getting his sheath cleaned? :-) That is great that the vet thought he's almost up to perfect weight! Great job!
Sounds like it's all going well. Sorry I didn't see your earlier post until now. You've got it under control with the vet, so I think whatever he/she said about Sarge is good to go with as far as when to see him again. Will it be 6 months in JULY!!
MTA: I got your card and pic of Sarge today. He looks so touchable in a photo that's not on the computer. He's beautiful.

Another "almost wasn't"... What a wonderful story... My father was a police officer... our first horse was a retired "patrolman" named Chestnut. I loved him sooo much. He was an amazing soul. He was with us until he crossed the bridge. I'm a mess... can't find my tissues!

Sarge Almighty, what can I say.... he is the tallest horse with the softest eye ever. When i go out to the pasture to get him he gallops past so close I can hear him breathe, then, he stops, turns to look at me (with his good eye) and comes back to me. Did I tell you the last time the Vet was out to float his teeth, after he took a long gander at his teeth he said"WOW, he is MUCH younger than I thought..... he is 13-16 years tops" So after I jumped up and down clapping I did what every sane person would do,..... I called Lisa. So to everyone who thought he was 25+...... HE"S NOT!!. And that's my Sarge update.......
