September !,2007 Sarge goes back to school, in training with me . As I have mentioned before Sarge is blind in one eye and has Uveitis( sp) in the other, so ,while he can still see I am teaching him or reteaching voice commands. Yesterday, in the outdoor arena without a halter on I put him thru the paces, he was a good boy and loved his cookie rewards. Have fun,Rocky

I know you told me about the Uveitis, but what does that mean for him long term? Does it cause gradual/quick vision loss or is it something that may be okay down the road?
Good luck with the training. I know you and he will do great together!

The Vet was out today to check on Sarge's leg soreness, he did flexion tests.which Sarge passed. He gave him an injection of Bute and gave Bute paste to me to give him for 4 more day's. While he was here he commented on Sarge's "Cresty neck" and how much weight Sarge has gained. The plan is to take him off his Senior completely. He didn't say "Cushings" but he was" indicating". I will keep you posted on Sarge's life without Senior.

Is this a trick question? :-) I thought you measured him at over 17hh... So that makes you...5'3"? :-)
I still love all those pics of you right when he came home to you. Two of them are on my bulletin board above my computer staring at me as I type. Thank you for giving him the most wonderful home imaginable.

Yes...Lisa , he is over 17+hh and I am 5'3. Most people don't gather he is that tall until they meet him,,,Rodeo 51 was speechless.. Anyway, this is one of my favorite pictures.. Is it raining there yet?? Rocky

It snowed this morning. Thanks for asking. It was always a little unnerving to me when I noticed Sarge's butt was taller than my head. ;D

November Update 2007. Sarge is fuzzing up nicely, he is blanketed at night and A la Natural during the day. I am getting alot of English riding in on him as he can trot forever...My goals for this Winter are to continue to help him overcome his "loading issues" and if this goal is met I might enter him in his first short endurance ride (You have to start somewhere). He is strong enough to do it girl's, really he is !! He is healthy. happy and the love of my life!!

Endurance...that sounds so fun. He absolutely can do it and you're conditioning him the right way. Working up to it gradually. Lots of trotting. Good job. Do any people where you board do endurance? That would be a cool barn activity to do together. :-)

Hi Lisa... Bridget, my friend from the "old" place is interesrtd in endurance riding. We are wild girls... She trailers over to me and we ride on a regular basis. Most of the people at the new barn have given me "THE LOOK" when I have broached the subject of riding endurance. As I have mentioned the barn owner is invovled in Search and Rescue which I am interested in as well,,,, Sarge might not be the best horse for that job.. The options are endless....Fun always ,Rocky
