Whoops, sorry! I didn't see your post until now! Diva is still handling stall life okay, The thinking is she may have an ACL tear even though none was seen on the ultrasound. We talked about hauling her to Davis for an MRI, but the BO is very concerned she'll hurt herself more in the trailer. She said "they need to understand this is no ordinary filly, she's a firecracker!" and that is true. But it breaks my heart to see her locked up with all the other babies out running and playing. She has a big stall with a large window overlooking the arena. And, the barn is laid out like a "T" and her stall is right where it joins, so there is always lots of activity and attention for her. But, still, this is no life for a baby. She'll be 10 months old tomorrow night! Today I palpated her stifle and she still pulled her foot up on me. She looks completely sound in the stall, and we tried limited turnout, but she lamed up again (grade 3 of 5) on day 4. I'm beginning to think I need to take my chances hauling her to Davis and get that MRI, but pnp4kidz, you wanna come out and take a look? You have pretty good instincts. Angel and Kaleigh did a personality transplant for part of the day. K was good as gold and Angel was acting like the track nut-case. They're up in the big pasture now so of course would NOT come when called. We had to hike all the way UP there (and I do mean UP) to bring them back down. Kaleigh went nuts on me on the way down and we had to go round and round and back and shove and all kinds of fun stuff. sigh. And, yes, I should NOT have been leading with a torn rotator cuff. But, I have to say, that is not what hurts the most tonight. (It's hard to decide what hurts the most) But, once we got down to the barn and grooming, Angel was dancing and blowing and Kaleigh was standing there like a good girl. Well, mostly. Well, for HER, she was good. Okay. It was windy today. Horses and wind don't mix well. In spite of all that, Scott did some clicker training with Angel and got her to go into the wash stall all nice and calm. He did it again at the end of our visit and she walked right on in. Yippee! No more cold showers for her! We took Kaleigh into the round pen. She was being so good for Scott. So, of course, gimpy me said "Okay, let me take a turn." Kaleigh looked at me, and "Yeah, right." She LOVES to move so she moved out just fine but when I tried to change direction broke into a run and shot past me. "Woo Hoo! Look at me go!" (brat). We worked on it for awhile - she'd change direction but would turn out not in. Disrespect. sigh. (Brat). Eventually we got it mostly together and she joined up well and followed well, but I could swear I heard snickering under her breath. BRAT. (But I wouldn't have her any other way! ) ;D Although I did threaten to trade them in on a couple guinea pigs..... I came home to a hot bath and a Motrin appetizer, and now I'm going to bed! mta: Diva is 13.1 (in the front - she's at that baby stage where the butt has grown and the shoulder/withers are left behind. All the baby's have toplines resembling ski slopes!) . Weight tape says 600 pounds, and 62" long. Her personality is still sugar and spice. Lots of both! ;D

Pics: Diva hanging out with me taken a few weeks ago. Even though she's on stall rest I try to reminder her she does know how to halter up and lead! You can see the shaved area from the ultrasound done. The stall looks dark cause the sun had gone down, but it's actually very light and airy during the day. The window behind us looks out over the arena, and a wonderful view almost to the ocean. I posted pics of it on some earlier thread. So, much as I hate having her on 100% stall rest, this is the barn to do it! The window is open (except on windy/raining days) so she can hang her head out there as well. When she was younger she used to try to climb out the window but she's grown a tad more sensible since then. Kaleigh in the round pen yesterday. Doing her favorite "warm up" exercise. "What the.....?? You want me to work??" Actually, Kaleigh LOVES to work. She loves to run almost as much as she loves to eat! If she hadn't been injured I have little doubt she would have been a good runner at the track. She moves very nicely and economically. And she has a gorgeous trot (not that she ever uses it! LOL! Why trot when you can RUN!!!) Kaleigh is 1000 pounds by the tape. Angel is 1100. I'm happy with her weight now, but need some more muscle tone. They're now on the big pasture which has some very steep hills, so that will help. And we'll be doing more roundpen work regularly after yesterday. hmph! No pics of Angel this time. :-( Camera went poof after just a few pics yesterday, but we did get some vid of Kaleigh in the roundpen so I'll try to upload that later. mta: I just realized, the fencing behind/above the round pen is the arena. The barn is on the other side of the arena, but is hidden because we are so much lower. The pasture behind that (top of the pic) is the pasture where Kaleigh and Angel are now. It's flat at the top and then climbs again, and it stretches way to the right out of the picture. So, lots of opportunity for exercise. They've only been out there a few days so haven't really merged with the herd yet. mta again! For those of you who remember CeCe from the foalcam - her colt, Baron, was born 3 days before Diva. She's in the last picture. See the four horses in the pasture between the round pen and the arena (side note - this is where Kaleigh spent the last couple months of her pregnancy). Well, the mare facing the camera - the one on the right of the four - that is CeCe. She was bred back and is coming up on her due date. She's 11.3 hands and is as wide as she is long or tall!! Baron is out with the babies - I'll try to remember to get a pic of him next time I'm out!
