So Diane is now the president of cber??? Diane who's daughter is a JOCKEY? Diane who claims that she knows the ins and outs of the racing world, Diane the president of a rescue? Diane who knows that an OTTB needs to de-tox when coming off the track, and the chances are pretty good that that said horse is going to be sore.
And Kay Mcwhateverherlastnameisgoingtobethisweek, is caught YET AGAIN flipping horses???
WHEN IS THIS INSANTY GOING TO STOP?!?!?!?!?!!?
How can they still have their 503, how can they still operate, how can the STILL find kool aid drinking mindless lemmings, the blood of this filly is on their hands.

Very sad story if its true. Yet just one more reason I wont list my rescue through them if I ever need to rehome.

They will never stop because they do not suffer any consequences when they do the horrible things they do.
Sam may as well just take the horses from Chuck, fatten them up herself and send them to the slaughter house.
If this story is true, I would say Diane knew exactly what happened to Dixie. I wonder if the so called trainer,Kris, knew that Dixie went back to Chuck.
Penny/Pals. I know you read here. I think from your posts that you have been trying to do right by the horses CBER has, although I may be wrong, but how can they justify this? What train of thought could possibly lead them to think that sending Dixie back to Chuck to pay off a debt was OK. Does this not break your heart, and the hearts of anyone who actually wants what is right for the horses. How can you or anyone else condon this behavior? It is stomach-wrenching, heart breaking and mind boggling.
It seems that Sam is building a support group of like minded people around her. What a bunch of heartless bitches. And anyone who is still supporting Sam, no matter how they justify it, I wish they would come here and explain how they get a good nights sleep. And anyone with an ounce of compassion in themselves will go running from CBER, and find another way to rescue horses.

Ya'll know what CBER's response is to this on their message board?
Outrage? Denial? Updates on the living horse?
No...
"Untill Diane contacts the lawyer this is not going to be discussed."
What world are they living in? Do they think that there is anything ELSE there members want to discuss when this is hanging over their head? What, do they think someone is going to work on a fundraiser for them cheerfully after reading that story? The only good thing is maybe folks will try to get their sponsor horses away from CBER so they don't end up following this poor filly back to Chuck's on their way to a dinner plate.

It just never ends with CBEr, does it? Why would they even have a debt with Chuck since $am won't pull any horses without the money being raised first? Aren't we always told that Chuck won't let any horses off the lot unless they're paid for upfront?

Really, now why would Diane need to contact a lawyer? If the story is not true, all she needs to do is go take a picture of Dixie, how simple is that? But if the horse is hanging on a meat rack somewhere, I guess no picture will be forthcoming now will it?
All she has to do is prove FUGLY wrong. But I am betting she can not.

With Daina saying she has to contact a lawyer before discussing this issue.......I am betting the whole story is true! Why would she have to worry about a lawyer if the story wasn't true?

Always the "lawyer" card, if they didn't have something to fear or hide then come out with it. Only when you "lawyer up" do you have something to hide or try and spin.
Brother......and in this case I know that FUGLY would be LOVE to be proven wrong, the breeder really wanted her horse back and is devistated.
Where's the horse Diane?? Oh wait...she was adopted to 1. someone that doesn't have internet access 2. someone that lives out of state 3. someone that doesn't want to be part of the rescue drama
what else did I forget???

They are claiming that Chuck denies shipping this filly. If thats true, and shes in a good home, why contact a lawyer? OOPS maybe got their hands caught in the cookie jar one to many times?

If I adopted a horse and found out that the person who bred the horse was interested in his/her whereabouts, I would JUMP at the chance to talk to the breeder. Most adopters would love to hear every scrap of history they could find on their rescued horse.
The CBER people are saying the adopter is local, so that should make obtaining proof that the horse has been adopted into a loving home, EASIER. The excuse that the adopter avoids rescue "drama" is blatant BS. Pretty much every sane person hates "drama" and wants to stay out of it, but who wouldn't want to step up and say I rescued this horse, she is doing great, we love her, here's a picture? The adopter doesn't have to get "involved", a simple post or email and they're done! Bonus points are that they get to talk to the breeder. How cool would that be?
Come on CBER, put up the proof. You don't need to do it for your non-supporters, but you should do it for your supporters! If this horse is safe, shout it from the rooftops and prove it. IF this horse is safe, there is no good reason not to...
MTA: CBER claims the horse is local, so do a site check and take some pics. The adopter would not have to be involved in the drama at all. They would just have to abide by the application agreement which does include a site check clause ( unless you all took it out of course )

For the admins of this board, I say if anyone from CBER is banned here, then unban them. Tell them to come over and defend what they have done. No excuses why you can not come here. I am also banned from CBER and cannot ask any questions of them.
What defense could you possibly have for sending Dixie back to Chuck, Karan? I am all ears. Like I said, prove FUGLY wrong. Quit making grand statements on the CBER board, to a memberbase that is mostly banned anyway.

I have been a semi-supporter for CBER for close to 2 years. I would look at the new horses, make updates on my own horse, but that's about it. I still hung around even after all the bashing to see horses that came through, but i think everyone is really seeing it this time after all the proven facts on fuglys board. I can't see after all this how anyone would want to contribute their time and money to something so leaky and false.

I never contributed much money wise, but always wished the horses & new adopters well in their futures together. This just sickens me beyond belief, so cold & heartless. How can anybody still support CBER and really think any of these adoptions are real? How many horses have been traded to other kill buyers? Oh yeah, if the day ever comes that I need to rehome Turtle they want me to list him on their site? Oh Hell NO! Only if hell froze over and I had taken my last breath would he ever be listed there.

It shouldn't be CBER, it should be CYAer (Cover Your A$$ Equine Rescue).
IF the mare was put down to colic, why not share that information with the supporters? Why do you need a lawyer to share that???
No, Caryn, no one has asked for vet receipts yet. Nobody has posted since the trainer's post.

If the trainer cared about her as much as she says she did. One question....why didn't she contact the breeder to see if she wanted the horse back. This breeder takes back her homegrowns.
Did anybody at cber bother to check, oh that's right we're not allowed to contact previous owners.
Oh yeah I forgot to add to my cber excuses 4. The horse died.
I board at a facility with over 100 head of horses. We have several colics a year, and MAYBE one or two in a three year period is FATALITY. We have polo horses, OTTBs, rental string horses, troop horses, trail horses, horses in hard training/competition and pet horses. Horses owned by professionals, ammys, and newbies.

apparently she "colicked and was put down" Yeah.....right Well, what a shock. How convienent they came up with an excuse where she is dead, when just the other day, she was alive and well. I guess we will not be seeing any current pictures. And do not forget, Sam has asked vets to lie about a horse before. She may be able to find one to lie this time. Diane, come on over and explain.... I am still waiting And Kristine, good thing about those broad shoulders since you will be carrying the weight of Dixies death on them.

All it takes is a vet receipt showing the horse was euthanized due to colic. If the adopter was local how hard is that?
This IS NOT the first time Sam has sent horses back to the lot. IF CBER continues it won't be the last.
Of course this mare was lame. Doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out she needed time off from racing. Rep is such the expert on OTTB's.
PLEASE, if you know of any trainers/owners from Portland Meadows or Emerald Downs let them know as she and others off the CBER board are trying to re home horses off the back side from the barn Kate rides for. How many of these horses will end up slaughtered?

OH, so now all of a sudden, this happily "adopted" horse has colicked and been put down!!! Oh yeah, right, like we believe this line of bull. This has been a line ( among several other common ones) that has been used for several years when they want to explain away a horse they cannot produce pictures of or that people are asking about. I know Chuck was called and he told the person that called that he remembered the mare and that she was "shipped" two weeks ago, he confirmed this over the phone. Now why would he claim he shipped a horse if he really didn't, there is nothing in that for him. He could have made more money selling it back to the original breeder, etc. ( the only other scene would be if he still has the horse and was just keeping it quiet till he did ship it with a group to get it out of there due to a request by s am). Once again cb er is caught and are now spinning frantically to explain it when they cannot without exposing their duplicity.

Someone made an excellent point on ther cber board.
Kristine, it seems that you were the trainer for this horse and not the owner. If you are trying to be supportive of the owner perhaps you need to reconsider your approach. On one hand you ask who would want this horse due to her dry socket and wood chewing? In the next sentence you say she was placed in a good home, colicked and was euthanized. So someone did want this terrible horse (whose issues were not mentioned in the sales ads)?
As leaders of this rescue scramble to cover their tracks, the members are rightfully asking for proof of the mare's fate. I would think the leaders would rush to either present the mare or the vet invoice to calm the membership and disprove the blogger who started this uproar. From the outside looking in it isn't logical to consulate a lawyer rather than just show the evidence of this mare's outcome.

I would also wonder why a vet was not called if she had a dry socket. And many horses crib. Especially if stressed. Why not treat her for an ulcer or try to find an underlying cause for the cribbing. Many just crib to release stress and if she was fresh from the track and moved 5 times in the course of a couple of months, maybe she just needed to relax. Not be sent back to Chuck for a board bill, or whatever they owed him.
CBER would not have to cover their tracks if they had done nothing wrong. Only liars need to cover up.

I just wonder how many of the regulars will once again follow them to a new board.
People, you support the way CBER operates just by your presence there. So if you support a rescue that would send a horse to slaughter on purpose, not once or twice but numerous times, then go ahead a keep cheering them on. But you are not helping the horses, so do not use that as a reason. You are enableing them to continue in their lying schemes. Their existence is to make money for themselves, if a horse happens to get saved once in awhile that is a side bonus. But they are not in it for the horses.
They are in it for themselves. And a whole lot of innocent people and horses have been victims of their greed.
I hope there is someone within the CBER program, who has enough integrity in them, that they can guarantee that the horses who were left at Sams have been transferred to safe homes. Silver, Dasher, Moira and the others left in the sponsored and quarrentined section. If they are at Camelot Farms, they are at risk.
Modified to correct a mistake I made, the forum is not locked afterall.

I have Sundance, so she is safe.
I am a member of that board because I need all the resources I can get my hands on for help with locating haulers, layovers, etc, not because I support the way they operate. In addition to that, by keeping the lines of communication open, I might be able to help a horse that needs a place to land, such as Sundance.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that point.

I am also a member there, but its mainly to occaisionally gain a bit of knowledge from somebody like cutiepiepmu or someone else who might have general horse knowledge but thats it. I was never a big financial supporter only because I have my own list of priorities and taking care of myself & family and animals comes first. Once or twice I did donate to a horse that just pulled at my heart but I will no longer donate funds of any kind and take whatever excuses they come up with for this latest fiasco with a yeah right attitude. I can think of 3 times something like this has happened in just the last year and a half since I have had Turtle, the split from RO board, the split with Kristen and now this. Situations like this seem to frequently repeat and thats not okay with me. Never a straight up answer from CBER just a really good dance around the questions being asked. Too bad really as I have followed them for the last 4 1/2 yrs.
