Ha Ha! I had one that if I was late, he would go to the metal stock tank and stand there and bang on it with his leg/foot looking towards the house. As I had close neighbors, I always had to be on time and was always listening for the banging just in case he decided the clock was slow. . .

Agilitygal -- Takoda would take his teeth and rake them across the panel rail. It always reminded me of an old movie prisoner raking his tin cup back and forth on the bars. And OMG, you should hear my donkey when he wants something! Talk about LOUD! Em Ha Ha! I had one that if I was late, he would go to the metal stock tank and stand there and bang on it with his leg/foot looking towards the house. As I had close neighbors, I always had to be on time and was always listening for the banging just in case he decided the clock was slow. . .

The dapple Mustang we rehomed used to make the metal gate sing with her teeth when we were late! Pal kicks the gate, or the fence with a front foot, and Sierra just nickers at you. Dazzler chortles, REALLY loudly, I have never heard a horse with such a deep voice. If he were human, he would be classified as having a BASS voice.

:'(My heart is shattered today, and I can't stop crying. Dazzler has been struggling with lameness on his front foot off and on, sometimes just hobbling, and other times moving quite well. The bare foot trimmer we called wanted a full set of x-rays so that the he could see what is going on with all four feet before coming out. We scheduled the x-rays for Monday, but this morning Dazzler took all decisions out of our hands. He colic-ed on us early this morning, and went down hard. We got the tractor and called the vet, but we couldn't get him to stand, let alone walk. When the vet arrived (in 10 minutes, bless her) it was clear that without being able to walk him we could do nothing except give him peace. We fought so hard to get this sweet old man healthy and happy, and we loved him so. I know he was tired and in pain, but my heart hurts beyond all description. I so wanted to have years with him, not mere weeks. In my mind I see him whole and sound, beautiful beyond words, thundering across rolling plains, kicking and bucking, finally free. Run Sweet Prince, chase the wind! You take my heart with you....

this is just incredibly sad. I am so, so, so sorry. he was so sweet and would have had such a wonderful home. you did so much for him. I have loved following his story.
you did everything that a loving horse mom would do for him and he was only with you for a few short weeks. you loved him unconditionally and immediately and he was so lucky to have you.

Oh no, I'm so very very sorry, and am so sad to read this news. You and your husband poured so much love into this horse, and I think all of us had hoped that you would get to enjoy a long time of good health with him. I'm just so sorry, and I'm shedding tears for both of you, and for Dazzler. Run in peace, sweet prince.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Some of these horses are lucky and find the home they need and we don't know the plan until the end. I am so grateful he had a loving home for his remaining time on earth. Thank you

I'm very sorry for your loss. My condolances to you and your family.
I just revisited the entire thread - he was such a beautiful horse. He was magnificent until the end, but I wish it were you who'd had him in his prime.
When I came to the "plaid on spots" photo, I had to laugh - it reminded me of the '70s when every other guy looked like that. All that's missing in the photo is the "comb over."
Best regards, Anne

Oh Lynn, I am so sorry. You all fought such a hard fight. I can't believe they are both gone. It was some comfort to Sarah and I that at least Dazzler made it. I hope you know I will be thinking about you over the next days. He will meet you someday and he will be whole and beautiful.
Hugs coming your way from Sarah, Colby and Kathy

I am so sorry for your loss. I only had Weston a short while before he crossed the bridge too. The thought of what might have been and dreams shattered are heartbreaking.
I'll tell you what my vet told me after Weston was gone. Some horses need to land in the arms of the angel who loves that horse enough to do right by him. You were his angel, he needed you, and he went knowing love and comfort.

OOOHHHH I am so sorry. My heart is full for you and many thoughts, prayers and hugs are coming your way. The most wonderful thing these old guys have is a loving home in their final time here on earth. You gave him that and more, he felt safe enough to leave physically, but will always be with you. He IS gorgeous and buff and not in pain anymore. Many thanks for all that you did for him.

OH Noooooooooooo
I am so sorry! I am so happy for him that he had you with him, not only these past weeks, but especially at the end. I am so disappointed for all of you that your time together was so short.
He was a beautiful boy inside and out.
