Well I know that Sierra isn't picky, that girl will eat anything, and can be a real pest when she wants food, which is pretty much all the time. She makes racket, and bobs her head violently to get your attention. She is sure she is being mistreated something awful, but she sure doesn't look it. Fat little tinker. I need to get on her saucy self and put some muscle on her with a little road work.

Dazzler's snazzy new jammies, courtesey of PEC arrived today, thank you ever so much!! Very nice, and plaid (I am Scottish, I think its grand)!! Spots with plaid, we won't lose him in any snow storms.... Finally got a call back from the equine dentist. $200-$225 to get those choppers in order . She won't be available for 2 weeks, and we have to haul him over to the arena so she can have a support sling available if she needs it. Heaven have mercy, our pocket book is just screaming. I am selling off all my jewelry at this point, I don't wear it anyway, and I am clearly going to need a Dazzler fund. Ah, but we do love his big spotted hide. He ate all his old man food, so I am going to mix up some more. As long as he will eat it, I am going to shove it in him.

Yeah, but Brian is still calling him Fizzler... Got to admit, until he gets some more weight on those big old bones, he looks pretty sad. But festive, I gotta give him that, he is festive... Wait till I put a bow on Dazz at Christmas and give him to Brian AGAIN, because all our money will have gone for vet and dental bills. Wonder what he will call him then? LOL

Was dark when we blanketed Dazz tonight, so the photos will have to be in the morning. We drove 3 hours round trip to pick up 3 ton of special grass hay for him, easy to chew and no alfalfa at all. Nice hay, we will have to get all ours from this guy next year. He grows his own for his Fiords, but always has some for sale. Dazz was all over it when we left him in the paddock tonight, fetlock deep, grinding away.
Pal was interesting tonight. Brian had grabbed Dazz's blanket and went out in the paddock to put it on him, but it was dark and he looked like some strange animal out there instead of a horse or a human. Pal suddenly came on a dead run from the other end of the pasture and cut loose a challenge call, all snorting and blowing and screaming! Whatever it was he was going to defend his new herdmate! Brian froze and called out to him when he realized he was the target, even though there was a fence between them, and Pal stopped, backed up, and then relaxed and trotted off. He and Sierra were safe at the other end of the pasture, he didn't have to put himself into any danger, but he was going to save Dazz. I was impressed.

For some reason that story makes me all teary... to think here is this horse who was thrown away and then there is this mustang who you thought would be a problem with Dazz... and he is willing to fight to defend him. Dazz has found his home where he was meant to be.

Well, the old man was full of it today. Pal was eating next to him and Dazz decided he didn't like it, and pinned his ears at him. Pal ignored him, so Dazz squealed at him. Pal still ignored him, so Dazz reached over and bit the back of Pal's neck, and then turned and *tried* to fire both barrells at him. It was rather comical, but I did holler and cracked my Parelli stick at them to redirect their attention. After shaking his head, Pal just calmly backed up, looked him up and down, and ambled off, like, well, okay, be that way. Dazz must be feeling better.

Brian went to take Dazz's blanket off him this morning, and he was lying in the shed snuggled up in his straw pile, dozing. He just laid there and lazily watched Brian unbuckle and removed his blanket. He never bothered to fret or get up, and Brian just patted his head and went about getting his hay for him. Neither of our other 2 will let you approach when they are lying down, they are on their feet immediately. Pal and Sis are feeling grumpy about not getting old man food, though. Their hay is just not as interesting as whatever is in Dazz's bucket, and they hang at the fence, pouting.

You should see it in person, the bluish shade is actually a very intense purple/blue! You can see him coming, no doubt. 8-)Thanks again, PEC, he loves his jammies. He is getting where he "tries" to help you put it on by backing under it and shifting his weight to distribute it. I can hardly throw it over him, he is just so tall I can't reach. He is at least a hand taller than Pal, and is longer by a mile. They look pretty funny right next to each other.

Well, Dazz destroyed his new jammies thing morning. It appears one of those insert and turn buckles came loose and he stepped on the strap getting up, ripping a 6" x 3' long strip of fabric out. He wasn't hurt, but dang, we got snow this weekend, so now I gotta go blanket shopping! I guess I will be checking to make sure the thing has clips or bolt snaps. I didn't get a chance to do new photos yesterday, so I will try tonight. He is a mud pony. I don't know why he rolls in the mud, but he is worse than our other two by far. I think maybe he likes to stretch his back out or something.

Yeah, Brian keeps joking about raising money for his vet and dentist bills by renting him out at kids parties so they can play "connect the dots" on him with finger paint.

You might be able to find someone that does blanket mending if the tear if fixable. I have had to do that with Kateys blankets a number of times.

We did find a local shoe repair shop that does repairs of canvas tents and such, he thinks he can fix it, so we are good to go. I am going to do something about those insert and turn buckles, though. I am going to change them for caribiners or bolt snaps, we don't need a repeat performance.

SSTack.com has some of the best Blankets and they are all on Sale now.... I have a "Jake the Ripper" in my barn.. Thank God I can repair my blankets.. I had to get one that was 1680 d. for him so he couldn't rip it up... I couldn't figure what he was doing to his blankets? ?... So one day I just watched him... he grabs the front of the blanket and starts pulling on it and then he gets it over his head and then wiggles out of it ... then plays flag .. step on it drags it around his pasture... No more elastic leg straps for this guy.. changed to nylon and he's ok now

With the T buckels on the blankets - they make this little round rubber doughnut things that go around the T. It keeps the blanket straps from coming un-done. they are SUPER cheap - I may have some x-tras I can send you. They are the BEST. The have been a life saver for me - none of my kids destroy their own blankets- but rather try to take EACHOTHERS off - especially my old QH - he LOVES to undo the others straps and take their blankets off lol.
What size is Dazzler??? I might have an x-tra waterproof blanket. I am sort of blanket crazy, so tend to have - ummm- an abundance lol!!
