You would think, but she was doing that last night and nothing. Silly mares ;D Tail held to side, throwing head towards belly/backend. Hmmm. I'd be watching her more closely......Looks to me like she is thinking baby time.. Vicki

sigh... yep, she is resigned. even when her door IS open, she stays in. hehe... that door you see shut opens to the geldings, she doesn't like them, lunges at them when they get too nose and put their heads 'in' her space... so we shut it a few days ago.
she has one on the wall with the camera that is always open, and the entire wall to your right is windows, as well as the doors have windows... they have bars, but she can put her nose thru if she wants, she can for sure look out there... she just doesn't wanna.
I'm going home now to check her... she had the salty grains on her teats last night, so I'm hoping for wax today, baby tonight. our ranch hand says tonight... who knows! but we'll be watching!!! and you will see me out there, begging her to get her done!!!

I'd love to see an updated udder pic. She is acting much like my maiden mare the day she foaled. They don't know who keeps poking them in the rear-end. Its usually the foal getting into position. From the rear she is still pretty wide. It doesn't look quite like the foal has dropped, but its hard to tell on a cam.
When I see a lot of yawning and biting of the front legs I get my bed set up outside.. ::)V.

Gosh, this mare has a huge belly. Did you have her checked to see if she was going to have twins? I was watching this morning and thought for sure she was going to deliver.

bite your tongue.. . no, when he palp'ed he couldn't count foals... her uterus was too low. but believe me, in person she is big, but not THAT big... just big. I'm ready... I'm sure hoping SHE is!!! let's get this thing OVER with!!!
mta: she has been JUST like this for days now... resting, swishing... gestating... in a bit she will lay down for her nap... then go flat out for a long deep sleep... I'm gonna get some sleep, just in case she gets me up in the middle... :-)

Hmmm...based on teat pics, not tonite. Maybe a couple of days yet. Just my (one time) maiden mare experience. The other girls were all multi para's more than a first time foal. But they all showed more udder than what I'm seeing. She is definitely close. That foal is certainly causing that tailhead to raise. But tonite?? Not too sure. Get some sleep, but keep the monitor on high so you can hear that ole water break!!

Would someone tell her how much better she'll feel once this baby is born! Not Beth, but I can fill in Snowflake is a twin, her brother is Blizzard that we also have. Beth got them when they were about 20 months old, when someone in Reno bought them together as part of a ranch foreclosure. Believe it or now, they were small for their ages, as they had been in pasture with adult horses. Now they are all grown up, and Bliz is somewhere around 16 hands, Snow is 15 I think. She is bred to our stallion who just passed away, Rakush. He was a beautiful, calm leopard stallion who was somewhere around 30 years old. It is so nice to have his baby as a reminder of how much we loved Rakush. I hope baby has his temperament!!! And I hope baby comes SOON!!!

No set pattern for being born... could be either morning or evening or middle of the night. I think they may tend toward night because it is quiet and no one is bothering them

We are having our first rains of the season today, so I'm guessing tonight, but hey, I've been wrong about three times already! her physical signs keep progressing, but the maiden mares can be tricky... and have no signs at all... once she 'goes' I don't think you'll need sound tho! I think you'll hear us across all of the Western States cheering!
and she'd better 'go' soon! we leave town on Tuesday for a week long Championship show! argh...

she went to slightly opaque milk today... still thin consistency, and yellow. she is slightly 'fuller' tho, and her moopie is just bulging out now... oh, and she is cranky. and eating her straw.... having very fiber full poos from the straw... what do ya think? I can take boobie pics again... if ya want.... :-)
