I'm waiting on the official total recieved at CBER, and to hear when they will be picked up... After the bail is officially met, the balance of pledges will be for QT and transport. We need to coordinate paypalling Deb the first month's board, and later this week we can talk about farrier and vet costs, and then arrange transportation!!!
For those who wish, the pledge can be directly paypalled to Deb, but please post so we can keep track... For those who wish, you may send donations to Founder-rehab for the QT, vet, and transportation expenses. We will do our best to coordinate this to get them down here as soon as possible!!!
THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts...

Hi swissy - At this point, you should connect with Deb to ask, because I'm not exactly sure how all the funds have flowed in....CBER paypal, CBER store, direct to Beth, direct to Deb.

I'm waiting to hear now... but I 'think' we have all the donations 'in' to CBER for bail... and if we can get some direct to Deb... for the first month's board, farrier and vet... How about if I do the list, showing who is sending to where... and requesting who to send where... in the alternative, donations can be sent to Founder-Rehab, we have a paypal on our website www.founder-rehab.com and we can dispurse... Thank you all!!! I'll post when I know they are safely at Deb's

Check for $100 *mailed* to Founder Rehab (beth, aka pnp4kidz) this morning. Another to follow in 2 weeks.
Is the QT board rate of $9/day for both mare and foal, or each? And we are looking at 30-45 days of QT at minimum, right? I am hoping for no sickness.

oh, I did the math with Deb on email, asked if the total was going to be $270, she said yes, and asked us to paypal the first month's to her, total of $280 to cover paypall fees too... so I think that they are 'one price'....
I have emailed and heard from my guru of nutrition, Eleanor Kellen, and she suggests I use the UC Davis protocol for starved horses for now, plus Ration Plus.... so, that makes it 'simple' for now, we will feed her and him only alfalfa, and ration plus... then as they get back to a decent weight, we can move them to a more normal diet.... but for now, she says this only.... she will get back to me tomorrow regarding addition of a mineral...
Right now, I need to order some Ration Plus... unless anyone has any to spare?

OK, I hear we are 'good to go', I paid the remaining bail and paypal fees to get them going to Deb's. I also went ahead and ordered the Ration Plus from Valley Vet, along with some brushes and Mrs Pastures cookies (I had to to get the free shipping!) So, another $73 from Founder Rehab for that.
I ordered some Alfalfa Pellets and beet pulp from Deb's feed store, they can't let me pay over the phone, so she is paying and will send us a paypal bill, so maybe someone can chip in for that? I think that is the way she wants to do the vet bills too.... if that works for everyone... thanks!!! I'll tell ya when I hear they're safe....

If we can get some donations sent to Deb for QT, about $280 ($25 is on its way already) that will be great. The rest can come to Founder Rehab and we will pay the vet... from that.... we have a Visa debit from the Founder Rehab account, so we can give the vet the visa number directly from here. and we can forward additional money to Deb if they need to stay longer...
Thanks for letting us know Deb... and big thanks for lots of pictures! I'm just a worry wart of a long distance mom...

Deb, you are a SAINT. I'm so glad they are in QT with you. This gives me the warm fuzzies. I'm also excited they are going to be living less than an hour away from me. I can't wait to meet these darlings and give them a big California welcome. Now, on to business. I haven't sent my pesos in yet. To which off-shore bank account should I wire them? p.s. Deb, when you get some pictures taken, you might as well include the ones that show the front of you! We already know what the back of you looks like...hahahahaha.... ;D p.p.s. Congrats to Beth and Peg! I'm thrilled to know they have a save haven with you.

OK, if I can suggest, Swissgrl and Jenm, if you two can send your pledges to Deb, along with the check on it's way, that will cover QT and paypal fees... and 2 of the bags of feed. Then, how about Mickeyfan3 also sends to her too, and that covers the other bags of feed I think... is that about right Deb? The rest can send to Founder Rehab, and we will pay to the vet directly and pay for the Valley Vet for the initial supplies I shipped today (got the Ration Plus, two rubber buckets, a brush and comb and hoofpick, and a jar of Mrs Pastures cookies for good measure)
Deb, what size heads to they have? I have lots of halters, and I want to send one for each.... thanks!

Deb, thanks for getting them off the lot and to your home. Keeping my fingers crossed for no sickness!
Is the little guy still nursing a lot? Still trying to get a handle on his age. He looks to be a few months old to me in the pictures.
THANKS!!!

Beth, I am concerned about this mare's abilility to chew stemmy alfalfa----has anyone looked in her mouth yet?
I used the UC Davis re-feeding protocol with a starved mare. But we used soaked and also dry alfalfa pellets because her teeth were bad and the vet was really concerned about her impacting due to poorly chewed alfalfa.
Just a thought.
What else do you need for them? Have you come up with any names yet?
