I got the coolest surprise in the mail today. It was all the pictures from barbpurple's and tockita's visit with SP AND a note from my boy!! I didn't even know he could write, but he sent a sweet note that said he is being a good boy and he really misses me. I guess he had a little assistance from Barb. Jerry said he is doing really well and tomorrow he gets his stitches out. Thank goodness Jerry is doing it so I don't have to pay another darn vet bill... SP apparently has two blond mule girlfriends down there. Jerry said he would take pictures of them this weekend. My boy may never want to come home! ;D

Package arrived today. We are not going to open it until we go see him, so it will still smell like mom inside! ;D I have no doubt this little man with his mulish memory will recognize these treats are from mom.

Mules are to smart for their own good. Jason was our big boy. He was stubbern and hard headed at times and sharp as a whip others. He calculated everything he did. He was fun to ride and he was a lover with people loved those big ears and the top of hs tail scratched. Your boy will be fine you will see. It takes a very special person to put up with some of their behaiver.. My mule used to tell on my if I did not feed right at 6pm My dad would pull in and he would bellow at my dad and he would come in and say Art did you feed that horse and mule yet and I would say no and then he would say get the blank out there and do it now. LOL fond memories. Sadly Jason died Memorial weekend 1998 he was 13 years old. We owned him since he was foaled out by my mare Angel. My dad wanted a team of mules. Jason's sister died at birth so he gave up that dream. I am sorry that he did not get to pursue it before he passed. They are amazing creatures. I just love them. He will be glad to see you when he gets home.

angel,
You made a really sweet post. Thank you for sharing such fond memories of Jason and your dad. I am only just now learning and beginning to understand mules, so I appreciate your insight.
A mule was sent to me for a special reason and I have yet to figure it out! Mules are so very different from horses and I am looking forward to understanding this wonderful boy.
Please feel free to post pictures of Jason, I loved the picture (katie) watermarkfarm posted earlier.

Jen, one of my office staff asked today about Sir (he's THAT famous!). How is he doing? Is he still with Jerry?

Yes, he's still with Jerry. I just asked Jen about him yesterday and he'll be coming home soon. She's just working out the logistics. It will be so good to have him back!

I just talked to Jerry. He promised me some new pictures in the next day or so. Our boy is doing well and has been exposed to all kinds of new things so he has matured a bit. He hasn't stopped being a kid though so he's still going to have his moments. I don't know for sure yet when he will be coming home, but it will be sometime this month. He may be going up to mule days, but I just don't know if I can wait that long! His Socal aunties were going to visit him this week, but Tock has her hands full so I don't know if she was able to make it out yet or not. barbpurple only lives a half mile away from Jerry so I'm hoping she got out there this week.

Well, it looks like there won't be a reunion for a couple more weeks. We originally thought our boy would be home this week, but Jerry wants to do a proper handoff with us and the only way for us to do that is to wait until....June 5th! Waaaaah!!! Aunties barbpurple and Tock, we are going to need your help! Hopefully you can get a couple of good visits in and will let our boy know he is getting closer to coming home.

Those of you who have been following the saga of our boy SirPrize and his adventures with Jerry Tindell in Southern California, will notice the subject line has changed yet again! I talked to Jerry this evening. One of SP's girlfriends has chewed on his tail, and it is now short and above his hocks?! I thought Jerry was teasing me, but he is sending me pictures tomorrow. I don't know when this happened exactly, but Jerry and his people are now calling him "Stubby"!! I'm tellin ya, if it's not one thing, it's another! I told Jerry that since the tail chopping occured on his watch, he should at least bring SP home with tail extensions. BarbP or Tock, do either of you have time in the next few days to go look? The countdown is on. I will be reunited with my special boy on June 8th. Can you believe it's been almost 3 months?!

Unfathomable! You are a very good mommy to allow your boy this time to go to school. I know it's been hard having him away but think how well prepared he now is for a HAPPY and productive life!
Just be sure you don't nibble your finger nails down while you wait, or we'll have to call you Ma Stubby!

Hey, you want a draft to keep Stubby company??? Bob is looking for a forever home you know!!!

Yay! Exactly one week from today I will be reunited with my long lost mule! I got some pictures of SP with his two blond girlfriends, Ruby and Rosie. These must have been taken a while ago though because he still has his tail and they all still have their winter coats. Ruby is really cute, and I think Jerry said he sold her to someone in Maine. It's a good thing she's already sold otherwise I might have been tempted to bring her home too! At least he is having more fun in these photos than the last one I posted. SP and Ruby and Rosie SP and Ruby:

Oh, Stubby looks great, despite the shortened tail My mare Ally was in with a yearling that liked to chew her tail. I put tabasco on it Worked like a charm!!! The yearling was shockingly uninterested in tails after that.

The yearling was shockingly uninterested in tails after that. These pics are pre-tail-chewing and I noticed that Ruby has a short tail so maybe Rosie is the culprit! I guess this is his payback for chewing off his mom's tail! By the time I discovered the Microtek pepper spray, he had already finished his layering job on her tail...sigh...over a year later and the layers are almost even!

Well, with that short tail, you might just need to teach him to pull a surrey!

Okay mule lovers! Rosie, the lighter of the two girls is for sale for a mere $1500.00. Jerry said she has a lot of personality and has a lot of potential. She is actually SP's favorite. Ruby, the darker girl left yesterday for her new home in Maine.
If you are looking for a mule, you can't go wrong with one bred and raised by Jerry Tindell!
Caly, I sure hope Kaleigh is ready to step back into her role as the "older woman"....hee, hee...

I saw her being really mean to Ballou the other night, so she's been practicing. (for the rest of you - poor Ballou is a yearling paint who's regularly pushed around by....everyone)
