Well, the only thing I keep reminding myself of is that he is the NICEST Guy, and it isn't like him to just not come or whatever... so, I'm believing him... ahem, but.... I will be takin the little fella to Loomis at 10 am if he didn't get there...!!! I'm about to call now, and see if he made it. :-) don't wanna be TOO pushy...

I'm gonna end up in the bed next to Dean at this rate! my blood pressure is starting to peak! no call from the vet, and my barn guy only speaks spanish... ack! I called and we did the 'Ola', Ola... vet? Huh? caballo doctor? huh? doctor? huh? ok, bye... bye... so I still don't know! so... I had to decide, and I don't think it's fair to make this baby ride for 5 hours in the trailer for xrays, so I called my backup vet, and he is reliable, and will be there at 10 am Monday, give or take... he is more expensive, not so personable, farther away... but dang... reliable!!! and I'm gonna go take some Tums.

Thanks PL... I keep trying to remind myself, he's been like this for over 2 years... so, what is one more week.... even so, it's frustrating that the vet kinda blows me off... he just called, appologized of course, and I just thanked him... and let it go... I'll see the other guy on Monday. I don't want him to get hurt in the trailer when I can get this done on Monday... at home...

THat's VERY frustrating, I have to say. You've been MORE than patient with him. But I agree, little Twinkle Toes would have a hard time with a ride that far.

Monday should be just fine. I can't wait to hear! And your names aren't plain -- I love the name Twinkle Toes, it's just perfect for him. Em

THE VET HAS COME!!!
and just like all of us... he fell silent when he saw him... xrays are taken, 7 of them to try and see what he could... and I'll hear more later after he develops them... he has calls all day tho, so it may be tomorrow...
oh, I got some pics this weekend, I'll upload and show ya'll... his teeny new tushie... and his BIG friend... :-) his left hind was warm and swollen all weekend, so I didn't let him 'out'... as I am not sure if it's injured, abcessing, or what... we actually gave him some bute on Saturday as he was laying down and didn't seem to want to put it down after he stood up... that was new.... he was better yesterday again...
Thanks... keep those jingles coming... (we also have one of our others who is sick... and at the vets, so we could use jingles... should hear diagnostic info on him today... )

Your girlie is great Caly, we were enjoying her antics yesterday... as we were showing Phoenix (her boyfriend) to a prospective buyer... and she wanted to be glued to his side!!! LOL.... she was most certainly fully sound, and having a blast running and playing with the babies... :-) Phoenix made a good impression... I think... so we will see if anything comes of it... and Blaze, aka Twinkle toes.. (or my pet name Twinkie) is so happy to have his xrays over with!!! LOL!!! now, just to get results.... and never call that OTHER vet again.. sigh. well... that might be too harsh... but anyway, here are some pics of twinkie... he was sore on his right hind, so he layed down a lot on Saturday... here he is resting, then with his friend Bob, who shows his real thougths on this picture thing!!!

Of course Phoenix would make a good impression - he is a beautiful boy! Diva is going to miss him if he goes. *sniff*
I'm glad she's running up and down! She has a lot of lost time to make up for in terms of bone density, muscle and lung development, and just being a baby exploring her world! Thank you for giving her the opportunity!! That hill should whip her into shape!!

Our other sickie is pretty sick.... I'm surprised Beth hasn't put up a post about him. Our 4 year old paint baby born at our ranch, (long story....) but he's been lethargic, not right. Took him to the vet clinic Saturday and they drained 20 - 25 liters of fluids from his chest cavity that day, another drain from abdominal cavity yesterday. He had pigeon fever over a year ago, and it could be from that. Could be lymphoma.... we just don't know. So he needs jingles for sure.....

I'm not sure why I'm not posting on him... but I can... he wasn't a rescue per se, his mom was... we birthed him.. I'll start a thread for him so as not to take away from Mr Blaze...

I haven't gotten the xrays myself, but the vet called, left a message, and says there is not much coffin bone in there, he's 'not sure how he standing'.... so, we have the serious talk today when he and I connect... I'll post the pics... when I get them too

I think the plan is to have him stay with us until Friday. So we can give him all the pain meds he needs, let him outside to enjoy the sunshine (if we could get him to some grass we would!) So he will have a full belly, and at least he got to know some love and LOTS of food!
Funny thing is... he doesn't really know what sweet feeds are all about. We give him Equine Jr. or something else like that, and he has no idea. Just give me hay, he says!
MTA: He won't be going alone, btw. (we're having a bad month...) Some of you may remember the Cushings pony we brought here from Arkansas, from Foxie? Acorn is his name, and he's also been not doing too well. He got Xrays at the same time, and he apparently has major coffin bone degeneration, and major rotation. So, sadly, he and Blaze/Twinkle Toes will cross the bridge "hand in hand."

Peg and Beth, I'm so sorry to read this news, especially knowing what you are going through with Rocky. I know it's been said before, but I'll say it again: thank heaven that the the two of you were there for Twinkie, and for Acorn, too. It isn't the ending we would wish for, but you've given Twinkie probably the finest days of his short life. He would have died an agonizing death had he not come to you, but now he will go fed, washed, loved, and eased across the bridge.
Bless you both; my heart goes out to all of you at Founder Rehab Ranch this week.
Hope

I am sad he won't have more time to be loved on and cared for, but he will soon be free of that poor little body of his, and able to run free without pain or restriction, they way all horses were meant to be. My heartfelt sympathies for all that you are going through right now.

Thank you all... it is so much easier to make these decisions when you haven't sat with them in the sawdust and patted their skinny back... and talked of non-sense... and the virtues of sweet feed... with Big Bob smuffling in your hair...
What am I gonna tell Bob? you think he understands that his little buddy has a broken body?
Little Acorn lives with Poncho, who is 35 or 40 years old, an American Shetland, who took my daughter to 8th place in state, two falls ago... in gymkhana!!! Poncho cries when Acorn just goes out for his feet to be trimmed! He was so sad when his other paddock mate died a year plus ago... an old mini mare named Apricot... What am I gonna tell Poncho? he'll be our only pony now... well, if you don't count Mistletoe, who is a BIG pony... he is gonna be soooo sad...
